Preparing for Real World Skills
Funded Feb 16, 2020Thank you so much for your generous support in funding my last project. Unfortunately, that school year my students and I were unable to use most of the resources due to virtual learning in March.
When we returned to full time instruction in September, I couldn't wait for math and to use the resources from my project. It was a difficult year, and even though it was hard to share materials, I did my best to keep them sanitized for each use. This year my students enjoyed using the coins to sort and count them, and the puzzles to help reinforce the skills. During measurement, they enjoyed measuring objects around our classroom. For telling time, the clocks helped the students to understand the difference between the two hands on the clock and how to read the time to the minute. With it being hands on, I was able to give them a specific time and have them show me on their clocks.
All of the resources made learning fun for my students during a time that was scary for them. I know this impact letter is late, but I am finally sitting and reflecting on my past school year in preparation for this school year. I wanted to thank you again for believing in this project and supporting me. I look forward to being able to use these supplies this year and years to come.”

Morning Bins That Excite and Engage All!
Funded Aug 13, 2019Thank you so much for providing the funds that made my project possible. I was the first to see the boxes arriving at school, prior to the beginning of the school year. To say I was excited was putting it mildly. I couldn't wait to share all of the wonderful surprises with my students.
After a week or two of learning our classroom routines and procedures, I took everything out to show them. The cheers and claps came instantly. We discussed the rules for using everything and we set up a plan, that each bin would be with a group for a week, and then we would rotate.
That Monday, my students were eagerly awaiting to come into the classroom, have breakfast, and get started with their bin of the week. They were, and continue daily, to be engaged. They are excited to share what they are building and creating with me and their fellow classmates. As they are engaged in their activity, it gives me the opportunity to meet with each student regarding homework and other important items. When I give the "clean up" command, they do it quickly and quietly and wait patiently to begin the day.
I can't thank you enough for believing in my project. My mornings run smoothly, and my students are starting their day excited about what is in store for them.”

Funded Feb 18, 2019Thank you so much for your generous support in funding my project. The students were so excited every time a box would arrive in our classroom. They patiently awaited as I would slowly open the box to pull out each surprise. I couldn't believe how anxious they were to start using the materials to aid in their learning.
Everyday I meet for small group work with each of my students. I have them in four leveled groups, and when they come to me, I work with guided reading instruction. Well, let me tell you that they love coming to me now. Between using the witch finger, the googly eyes, the magnifying glasses, or the paragraph / line highlighter, they can't wait to see which one they can use to guide their reading. In addition, the sand clocks have been a hit when it comes for them being accountable for their own work and time during our small group center time. Their fluency has improved over the last few months with the Fluency Cards, as well as them enjoying reading with the tools you have provided them with. Even something as basic as the clipboards are helpful to the students, allowing them to sit on the floor and respond to their reading, as well as just to work on their writing in a flexible setting.
One of my main goals for this year has been to instill a love of reading onto my students. When they came to me at the beginning of the year, most of them were not at grade level. They did not enjoy guided reading groups, or even just to sit and read for an extended amount of time. Well, that has changed. The fact that they tell me how much they enjoy our guided reading time and how much they have learned from that time, excites me! Something so simple, excited them, and has made such an impact. Thank you again for your support in my cause. I truly appreciate you generosity and support.”

Reading, Writing, Listening! Oh My! The Opportunities That Awaits Them
Funded Feb 18, 2018I would like to take a moment and thank you for your generous support in funding my project. From the moment the boxes began arriving at our classroom, the excitement was contagious. The students couldn't wait to begin using all of the new activities awaiting them.
We have been using the writing charts weekly in the classroom as a modeling tool. As a class, we work together to brainstorm our ideas, write them down, and begin our class draft, prior to the students working on their own. In addition, the Instant Learning Games for English Language Learners is a FAVORITE in our classroom. My students get so excited to "play" the games included. What's great is the fact that they are practicing their skills, while enjoying themselves! In addition, the other tools we received for our classroom has aided us with read alouds, mastering our sight words, and becoming confident learners.
Thank you again for your support in my cause. I truly appreciate you generosity and support.”
