First Grade Shelter-In-Fun Care Package
Funded May 6, 2020My care packages were a success! This was all thanks to you and your generous donation! The looks on their faces as they saw me at their homes was priceless! Some immediately began to open their gifts, while others were too shocked to speak.
I have received and continue to receive many heartfelt thanks and appreciation from both parents and students, both for the visit and for the goodies. They loved the squishies and playfoam (great for tactile and small motor skills). In addition, I was surprised at the number of kids who needed jump ropes (great for gross motor skills).
As we begin the month of June, students will complete their writing projects. Some may choose the use the materials included in their packages, like the blank books or speech bubble post-its. However they choose to use their gifts, I'm sure they won't soon forget your gift of kindness! Thank you again!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. L.
This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 5 other donors.A Rug for Reading!
Funded May 3, 2018When you think of how a lower grade classroom is supposed to look like, the first things to come to my mind are little desks, with little chairs and maybe charts with numbers and the alphabet, but also a rug. A classroom rug, is not an ordinary rug, but a big, bright and colorful rug. It might have letters, numbers and playful pictures. It must be welcoming. It must say to all the little students that enter the room every day, "Welcome! Sit on me and listen and learn and watch and communicate and laugh and play!"
Thanks to you, our donors, we have that kind of rug. Some of the things we have done on our rug are enjoy books, watch educational videos, discuss with our partners, work in groups, explore math problems, observe science experiments, celebrate birthdays, solve puzzles, build block towers and line up dominoes.
Not only was I able to share this wonderful rug with my previous class, I continue to use it with my new class. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. L.
