  • Book Worms: Diverse Books for Diverse Kids

    I am so delighted to share that our library upgrade has been funded--thanks to you! My students have been checking out the more popular titles from our class library already, and this will really expand their options. There are some great young adult titles on here with powerful themes related to U.S. history and current events. These books will serve to increase my students' interest in U.S. history, reading, and I expect some of these will just be fun reads; at the end of the day, what's better than a good book?”

I have this quote displayed in my classroom as a reminder that kindness, hard work, and persistence are all choices that shape who my students are as learners and individuals. I work at a gifted and talented school in East Harlem where my students are incredibly bright and motivated, and I believe it is my role as a teacher to guide them towards making choices in life that will foster a positive learning and social environment for all.
