  • Grow With Us!

    Funded Apr 22, 2024

Thank you so much for the gift of potting soil and castings!

When we first opened the boxes, the kids knew right away that they could start potting and planting. They had rooted cuttings ready to go, and then they went straight away into vegetable seeds for the outdoor garden.

Now they have established houseplants. But with the veggie seeds, the vegetable garden yielded tomatoes, peppers, and basil galore. It's a toss-up whether they enjoyed watering or harvesting more.

Yes, they are learning how to cultivate plants, but these students are also happy to eat raw vegetables straight out of the garden! What a life lesson!

Practice makes perfect, so we will be starting to propagate again in a few months. This year my sudents will lead the way in produce planning and production. We owe our success to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rich

  • Can You Hear Us Now?

    Funded Mar 20, 2024

Thank you very much for sending us the karaoke machine. Using microphones is really helping us with our social skills and artistic expression.

It's surprising, but using a karaoke machine seems to reduce the stage fright we used to feel when speaking in front of others. We get to be fun and silly while practicing for speech class, presentations, and the talent show!

Technology makes a difference in student engagement, time on task, and a sense of belonging.

Because of the gift of a karaoke machine, our studentw warm up to speaking tasks in no time. They don't mind practicing their presentation skills, and they feel like their work has a purpose.

We are able to get more done and still have fun!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Rich

I teach world languages and related arts at a small public high school in Philadelphia. Students study Humanties, STEaM, Health, Phys Ed, Digital Design, and World Languages as core and required subjects. In addition we work music and various arts into our core subjects every chance we get. Our students are very creative, especially with technology, and they also enjoy making things with their hands. Some students are involved in painting murals; others have made and modeled their own clothing designs. Still other students are involved in dance and drama. We always have our eyes open for extra-curricular activities to enrich our young people's experience.
