History Coming to Life with a Book
Funded Aug 25, 2014Your gift is a wonderful example of the support shown towards education and keeping reading and social studies pertinent in the classroom! Because of your generosity, my students have an additional resource to keep them engaged and interested in reading through a high interest historical fiction novel.
We will soon be starting our unit on the American Revolution and begin reading the novel, Chains. When the box arrived in our classroom and I took out all the books, they were so excited! Earlier this year, we read, Fever 1793 which happens to be written by the same author as Chains. They loved Fever 1793 and can't wait to read this next novel.
Once again, thank you for opening your heart. Your contribution is deeply appreciated.”

Funded Oct 5, 2013My students and I thank you so much for donating to our project! Every week my student are so excited to receive their Time for Kids magazine. Time for Kids is a great magazine to keep my students up to date with the current happenings in our world. During my years of teaching, I have found that students don't know what is happening in their community or world. I believe it is important for the students to become globally aware citizens and the magazine subscription definitely helps with that objective.
Each week my students are to give an oral presentation/report on a current even they find interesting. Time for Kids has given my students the opportunity to create wonderful presentations. Since the magazine is written at their reading/grade level, it is easy for them to understand and make connections to their own life. They have been been discussing the importance of current events in regard to their community, country, and world. They are able to think about and discuss the positive and negative effects their chosen current even has on our world. The magazines have allowed my students to think deeper and hold fabulous discussions.”

Because of your generosity, 60 students in all three third grade classes will have an additional resource to keep them engaged and up to date on the current events that are taking place in our world.
My students were beyond excited when we received the first batch of Weekly Readers. They couldn't put them down! They really do love reading informative text, especially when it relates to their world around them.
Once again, thank you for opening your heart. Your contribution is deeply appreciated.”

Funded Jan 30, 2012I cannot thank you enough for all of your generous donations to my classroom project! The animal and plant adaptation books and resources that you donated helped my students with their research projects. They had a four week long project in which they needed to research an animal and it's habitat. With the research they collected, they went on to produce amazing Power Point presentations (which aided their oral presentation), a magazine article, and dioramas that realistically represented their animal's habitat. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. You all were such an important and integral part to their learning and new found knowledge. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

Funded Oct 15, 2010I cannot fully express my thanks and excitement for your donations to my project. It is wonderful to see that you all believe so strongly in investing in the education of students in California.
The easel that you have funded will provide a focal point for small group instruction. This will help to support their learning and increase student engagement. I know that my struggling students will feel more comfortable and secure working in a smaller group.
I cannot wait to show the students their new easel and have them start to use it! Again, thank you so very much!

Sparking Student Interest in Reading with a Book Club
Funded Aug 30, 2010I cannot thank you enough for donating to my project. When I brought the box of books into the classroom, my students were so excited! They couldn't stop smiling! We have already started using the books for our book clubs. My students look forward to their weekly book club meeting where they get to discuss the books. This means so much to us because we do not get money to purchase these kinds of items. You have all helped enrich this classroom and make it a fun and exciting place for my students to want to attend.
From all of us,
THANK YOU!!!!!!”
