Flexible Learning Made "Easely"
Funded Dec 20, 2019I want to begin by thanking you again for all of your generous donations to my project! My classroom truly transformed because of our new material. All of the material has allowed for more flexibility in our classroom and we are able to teach on the go and change things up as needed with ease now. Although the material in this project was more teacher-centered, it has shown a positive outcome in my students work and engagement in the classroom.
Students we so excited when they saw our new easel. Our new easel is safer than our last one and students model there work without fear of the easel toppling over (as our old one used to do). The easel moves around the classroom with ease and has great storage.
The ipevo pen has allowed me to transform any blank space in my classroom into an interactive board which amazes my students. They call it the magic pen. And another favorite is the table top whiteboard because students are able to lead small groups and model to their classmates using this board.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic are time in the classroom was cut short. I am hoping to start the new school year off fresh with the material from this project!”

Funded Aug 13, 2019With our new Lego set and WeDo 2.0 our students have gained such an interest in coding! We are able to bring 21st century learning into the classroom at an early age which will get them ahead in their later successes in life. Our Lego sets have also added a more hands-on approach to our math lessons. We used them to practice area and perimeter as well as in our fraction units.
When we first introduced our new material to our class they were beyond excited. Of course seeing the word Lego on the box excited the class automatically but once we really unpacked and incorporated them into our lessons did the students excitement turn into engagement which was the goal of this project.
Thank you so much for contributing to my project and my students' learning experience!”

Funded Nov 27, 2018I want to begin by expressing how thankful my students and my self are for all of your generosity! Having the the Chromebooks has brought excitement, engagement, and lots of exploring to our classroom. My students are able to research far beyond what our small classroom library has to offer. This has led to further wonderings and deeper class discussions. Currently in our social studies unit we are studying China and the students are researching Chinese traditions during the Lunar New Year. Each group is putting together a presentation using Google slides and will present to family and friends at the completion of the project. Students are learning how to use kid friendly search engines, paraphrase information found, and put together an appealing slide show presentation, using images and animation. All skills which will help them be successful 21st century learners.
My students are always excited when they get the chance to work on the Chromebooks. Many times when we circulate the classroom to monitor behavior and work, we often hear the students say "I feel so grown up," when working on their presentations. Or "we're doing middle school things. This is so cool!" Having the Chromebooks has greatly impacted struggling students because they are able to work on specific skills at their own pace and with privacy. They are able to enhance their math skills using online games on Prodigy and build reading fluency and comprehension using e-books from the website epic!.
Thank you, again for all of your support!”

Mrs. Skartsiaris
