Funded Apr 25, 2019Two days before my new, clean rug came, my students were reading in small goups on our disgusting, old rug. As I walked by, one of them raised his hand and exclaimed, "This rug stinks!"
I looked at him and said, "I know it does....But guess what? We are getting a brand new rug!"
With wonder and amazement, my students asked question after question after question.''How?"......"When?" ......"Why?" When our new rug came, the students were so excited that they jumped up and down with joy.
We use our clean rug constantly. Everyday, we start our day sitting in a circle welcoming one another. We talk about our goals and desires for the day. During reading time, students are able to read without being scared of the nasty smell. After lunch, I read a story to them, and they each have their own rug square to sit in. At the end of the day, students are able to play cooperatively and learn social skills.
No words can express how grateful we all are for your generosity and kindness.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nisbet
