Empowering Little Readers: Promoting Literacy in Title 1 Kindergarten Class
Funded Nov 21, 2023I am so excited to know that such wonderful people stepped up to help my students be better readers and learn to love reading. I can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. The materials you donated to purchase will mean so much to my students. I can not wait to see their faces when the supplies arrive but more importantly I can not wait to see the excitement on their faces when they realize they are becoming real readers! Watching students learn to read and love reading is one of the greatest joys of my job. Thank you again for helping to give my students the tools they need to be as successful as possible.”

Ms. Watkins
The Return of Hands-on Learning in Math
Funded Nov 15, 2021I want to give a BIG thank you for your generous donations to my classroom. The biggest impact has come from the various math materials and workstations we received. My students use these materials everyday at workstations.
The day the materials arrived was like Christmas morning for them with so many excited faces eager to use them. The use and practice with these materials have helped my students learn different math skills such as counting, representing numbers, adding and subtracting, writing numbers and other skills. These are materials the kids choose almost every day because they are engaging and fun.
Additionally, I use some of the materials to enhance my small group teaching while students are at workstations. These materials have helped my students build a strong foundation in math.”

Funded Feb 1, 2021My students and I were truly grateful for your generations donations to bring art and hands-on learning to our classroom this year. My students were very excited about painting and using the other materials purchased. Due to Covid-19 safety restrictions, students were no longer able to have community resources to share for projects. Because of your contributions, my students were all able to use the materials to paint to demonstrate their learning and as a tool for exploring how soil can be used as a paint. One project my kindergarteners participated in this year after exploring soil, was to use soil and water mixed in a cup to make a water paint and use it to paint a picture of various animals. Students also use the pipe cleaners to make a flower after they learned about plants and plant parts.
I have many resources left to use this next school year to provide my new students with the same types of experiences.”

Funded Sep 27, 2010We wish to say Thank You for your donations to our classroom. The digital cameras you purchased have made a great impact on our classroom. Not only are we using less and saving paper, we are learning valuable technology skills too. Our classroom is learning how to use a digital camera and the software to edit photographs. We've used the digital cameras in many fun, exciting ways.
Some of our favorites have been going on a Digital Geometry Scavenger Hunt around our school. Groups of students were given a list of geometric shapes to find throughout the school. They used the digital cameras to take pictures of real-life and man-made examples.
Other uses have been to take pictures that represent our math "Number of the Day". We are able to document and keep track of the numbers we've covered. The students also use the digital cameras to illustrate original stories they have written in class. They then print out the photos to create a book to share with the class. In addition, we use the digital cameras to document examples of great work to display in the classroom. The students are always so excited when it is their turn to use the camera.
Everyday we find many more uses for this wonderful gift. The class is always finding new, interesting ways to incorporate our digital cameras.
Thanks again,”

Ms. Watkins
