Headphones for Ear Reading and Math Videos
Funded Jan 25, 2018Your donations have enabled my students to spend more time listening to audiobooks on their iPads, allows them to have questions read to them on their math program without disturbing their classmates, and we can store and charge their devices in a neat and orderly way with the iPad station.
When the boxes came in, they were all super excited to open them and start using the headphones. They were quiet and completely absorbed in their stories for a good thirty minutes. Each student has put their name label on a pair of headphones and is protectively caring for their set.
Our school is older and when it was designed, technology and power needs were completely different. My room has a very limited amount of plug-ins and iPads are usually strewn around the room, plugged into various power strips. The iPad station has changed that. I can "hide" 3 power strips under the station and plug in the majority of our iPads so they are fresh and ready to go when the students need them. One central location means they know where they last plugged in their device and they are not wandering the room to see where their iPad is charging.
Thank you again for your generous donation and support of our classroom!”

Mrs. Toynbee
This classroom project was brought to life by The First Million Fund and 5 other donors.iPads Open Unexplored Worlds
Funded Jul 31, 2016My students are over the moon excited about having their own i-Pads in the classroom. I know we are supposed to teach them to share, but they are so happy that they won't have to share devices because there are enough for each of them to have their very own!! They were just as excited about the cases that I bought to protect each i-Pad! They are making plans to take pictures of projects that they create (especially their Lego creations!) and share them with their family through Class Dojo.
Multiplication Apps and Spelling City are in the running to be our two most favorite applications. They won't ever top Mine Craft and the coding apps that we have installed though. When I told them about being able to use Mine Craft and having their own world and user accounts, they openly cheered!
Thank you so much for your generous donation. It's amazing how enthused and willing to learn these children are. Not just because of the technology, but that doesn't hurt. It adds variety to our learning styles, gives us options and creative ways to do usual topics, and increases their fluency with math and reading all while they think they are just interacting with a device. We are in love!!”

Table Shakes When We Erase Part 2
Funded Dec 26, 2010My Art classes would like to thank you for your generous donations to our Art Program. The tables that we were able to purchase with the money you donated are fabulous. We have used them to paint, draw, and create ceramic pieces. The tops are adjustable, so each student can create the work space that best suits them while they work. Now, when we walk into our room, there is a sense of artistic creativity. Students are able to sit at a table and work, uninterrupted. Someone erasing at another table does not effect their work. Wonderful. Thank you again.”

Mrs. Toynbee
Table Shakes When We Erase
Funded May 1, 2010My classes are so grateful for your support. They have been using the new tables everyday and they still make comments about how wonderful the tables are. Our goal is to raise money so each student can benefit from a table that doesn't shake.
During class, if someone starts to erase and the old table shakes, they will ask their fellow classmate to "please move to a new table". When we finally have enough for the whole class, I will have a room full of happy artists.
Students who walk by our room will stop and ask questions. They can't wait to take art and use our new tables!!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Toynbee
