Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you for the books you provided to our classroom. We used the book your provided to teach research skills focusing on how to select texts ranging in difficulty from novice to proficient to expert. Students learned how to build background knowledge quickly this way.
While reading, students taught each other what they read and captured their ideas with effective note-taking strategies based on the structure of the text. Students then created categories from their notes. These categories eventually became pages that they included in the Hudson River Coffee Table Book.
Many of my students have loved looking at the books. They appreciate the fact that they get to read trade book with interactive pictures and captions, as opposed to text books.”
