• Help Me Build a Much Needed Personal Hygiene Pantry

  I am writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation to the Wellness Pantry through DonorsChoose. The impact of your contribution has been truly transformative for our students at the Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women.

  Your support has provided essential resources that are helping to meet the basic needs of our students, allowing them to focus on their education without the stress of hunger or food insecurity. Many of our students face significant challenges outside the classroom, and your donation has been an incredible source of relief and empowerment.

  The Wellness Pantry ensures that students have access to nutritious food, hygiene products, and other necessities, helping them feel supported and valued. This has not only improved their physical well-being but has also had a noticeable positive impact on their academic engagement and overall mental health.

• Providing Wellness Kits for Students in Need

  Thank you so much for your generous contributions to our classrooms The wellness kits and snacks you provided have already begun making a tremendous impact on my students' daily lives. When the items arrived, the excitement in the room was contagious! Students eagerly helped unpack and organize the wellness kits. The snacks were met with cheers of gratitude, as many of my students often come to school hungry or in need of extra nourishment to fuel their learning. The wellness kits have been a game-changer in promoting self-care and emotional well-being. They're learning how to regulate their emotions and take care of their bodies.

  They've not only supported their physical health but also built a stronger sense of community, as students now feel supported and cared for in ways that go beyond academics. Your kindness has brought joy, comfort, and support to my students. You've given them tools to focus on their well-being and grow into more resilient, engaged learners. Thank you for helping us create a classroom where every child feels seen, supported, and ready to thrive.”

• Spreading Joy: One Snow Cone at a Time

  I wanted to say thank you for funding my project!! With all the important things that need to happen at school everyday, it's easy to forget how VITAL the need for joy at school is! Creating opportunities at school for kids to laugh, connect and feel safe creates a community where kids feel they belong! Your funding allowed me to do this at UAI! With the items that I purchased we have held parties, free after school events and family get togethers that have been loaded with popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones - the kids love it (and so does the staff :) ).”

• Hygiene Products to Ensure Happy, Confident and Productive Students

  I want to thank you for your generosity and kindness. Because of you, I was able to make 100 health kits that will be used next year for any student in need.

  The response to the health kits have been amazing. Perhaps my student Anayasia summed it up best when she said "Sweet, now I know I can come to you when I'm not feeling great and I just wish I was home".

  Sometimes it's the small, often overlooked things that can make a world of difference in a student's day. Feeling good, confident and cared for are the foundations for success. Our health kits are one way to support our girls and ensure they are coming to school ready to take on the world.”

• UAI Needs its Groove Back!

  Funded Feb 4, 2018

  On behalf of The Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women I want to thank you all for your generous donations. Because of you, our school was able to buy a brand new and (awesome we may add) sound system for our school.

  The new sound system has truly breathed new life into our celebrations and has helped deepen our sense of community and sisterhood. In just the last month, our students, with the use of the new system, have hosted an amazing Black History Month Assembly with live dance and musical performances, as well as run a movie screening of Despicable Me 3 as part of our Big Sister program.

  The next event we plan on using the system for is in March when we host our annual Women in Herstory Assembly. Our students will get to showcase all of their amazing talents. I will be sure to post more pictures of this event.
