Most of the materials I use to help my students achieve their goals are hand made or purchased by me. This, of course, becomes costly and time consuming. I've requested materials to make items for my students, or that I would not be able to make myself. The materials I have requested would be used each and every week, if not every day. For example, many of my students struggle to respond appropriately to wh-questions (e.g., "What to you use to cut?" "Where do you go when you are sick?"). The Ask & Answer "WH" Question Bingo would be a fun, more engaging way to teach these concepts. Several of my students present with severe stuttering, which can influence them both academically and socially. The Fluency River board game would allow these students to work on their fluency strategies and have fun simultaneously! I also have several students who are on the Autism spectrum and do not use verbal communication. It is my job to give these kids a way to communicate! For some, that is picture exchange. Small binders with sturdy dividers make a great picture exchange communication book. Students learn to request and comment by exchanging pictures with their communication partners. In the words of educator and philosopher Paulo Freire, "Only through communication can human life hold meaning." Please consider helping me as I help my students improve their communication skills.
