I want to provide my students with other options of flexible seating other than simply sitting on the floor. I not only want them to have a choice, but to be comfortable as well. My students get to make very little choices in their daily live, this is one choice that I could provide for them each day. By providing a variety of flexible seating, I am giving them the power to make a choice in their learning and to motivate them to become engaged learners. My students will be able to make a daily choice of where and how they would like to learn in our classroom. Research shows: Simple in-class activities can boost performance. Studies suggest that children who participate in short bouts of physical activity within the classroom have more on-task behavior, with the best improvement seen in students who are least on-task initially. Matthew T. Mahar, et al. Please help me to provide this opportunity for them and empower them by giving them the opportunity to find what works best for them.
