I am hoping to provide reliable and quality technology to my class of eager learners. Each day, every class at our school is given 30 minutes of designated “intervention” time in which students are to receive differentiated academic support. In a class with one teacher per twenty-three students, it is not possible to give every student the specialized and leveled lessons they deserve to build upon any necessary, but lacking skills. Therefore, I use a system of rotating groups to see as many students as is possible during this time, meaning several students are working without a teacher at this time. An additional set of iPads would benefit my students by providing engaging, relevant and leveled academic practice during this time, whenever they are not working in the teacher-led group. When students are engaged and given choice in their education, they feel motivated and empowered. iPads help provide that since there are several effective and interesting academic apps that allow for individualized progress. In addition to interventions, the iPads would be useful in fostering group-work during content-review games and research projects, adding an extra element of engagement and real-life experience regarding the use of technology in the real world.
