Making students comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. During independent work times they choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Students will make better choices when learning and be more engaged and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their own learning. Students will have a variety of locations in my room such as: different table styles; round, square, with a variety of chairs/stools. Stand-up desks for those students who work better standing. A cozy area for comfort while reading. The area rugs create a warm, pleasant feeling and environment. We all work better in comfort!
