When my students arrive in my classroom, they are already behind their typically developing peers. It is my job to help them catch up as much as possible. Having the resources I have requested will give them the opportunity to learn by manipulating and taking it all in visually.
The donations to this project will help my students learn in unique ways, but still help meet the required concepts of a preschooler. By implementing these activities and games into my classroom, a fun environment will be created while my students are also learning. For example, I can have students who are nonverbal sort shapes with magnetic blocks and colors using the educational puzzles which shows me that they understand the difference between a circle and triangle or colors. Another great way I will be using these resources is asking a question during a game like Ants in the Pants, Cootie, or Don’t Spill the Beans in order for each student to take a turn. I would say, "What animal says ‘moo’?", then the child will answer and be allowed to take a turn.
With each child on different levels, many of these requested items can be done together, as a class, and help the children develop friendships and gain social skills. The Crocodile Hop game from Learning Resources will be an activity that will allow all of my students to interact together. While playing interactive games that makes students jump around we will be learning coping skills, personal space skills, regulating volume, and how to share/take turns. I have done many observations in classrooms and I know how effective these materials can be. Giving my students the chance to learn kinesthetically and visually will help them learn at a quicker pace.
