Educating Entrepreneurs!
Funded Jan 4, 2023My student's are ecstatic about the items we received. They love to develop skills that will allow them to be creative and they have expressed an interest in service activities and entrepreneurship.
The students enjoyed putting some of the items together and watching videos to give them ideas about what they wanted to create. The laptop holder stand was a great tool when they were in groups and some of them used their chrome book to determine what they were going to create. The activity involving the popular beaded bracelets and stress balls was a hit. They were fascinated by the multiple uses the items have, such as using balloons, sand and detergent to make stress balls, using rubber bands to make rings and bracelets, and using various beads and stretch cords to make bracelets. They quickly realized their entrepreneurial skills when creating these items.
The FCCLA club stresses service and the students realized they would be able to utilize the pink para cord to create a Breast Cancer Awareness item to be used as a donation and is a survival tool. This project taught the students how to work as a team to benefit a cause.
The students also created an information board by utilizing the posters; they learned how to organize stations by utilizing the cart for markers, pencils etc., and how to utilize a charging station by utilizing the ipad charging cart. The students have become more organized by engaging in these types of learning experiences. We are thankful for the wonderful donations; they have allowed the students to realize how they can become an entrepreneur by creating something that is being sold in stores now, how they can bring joy into someone's life with a small donation, and how the smallest item can be used as a life skills survival tool.”

Bringing the GED Book to life
Funded Mar 1, 2018The use of various technology to implement various ways to study is very important in the GED program. The students are very technology savvy and enjoy engaging in the creation of their study plan. By being allowed to utilize the scanner and the projector that was purchased for the program, the students have felt more in control of how they work towards being successful in the program.
The students are excited to scan the lessons to the computer. Afterwards, they scan the response to the questions, add videos and pictures. They create power point presentations and upload their creation to google classroom and share it with each other. They can bring their lessons to life by adding animation to the power point presentations. They enjoy showing each other how to create specific animations to each frame. The projects they create can be utilized on their cell phones, ipads, laptops and desk top computers.
By using the projector, the students have warmed up to this new technology. They can share their power points on the board with the entire class; they can review online practice tests and explain the answers to each other. Group work is very important and they enjoy helping each other work towards passing the official GED test.
Various types of technology gives the students the opportunity to study at work, when on a break, on the bus or at the bus stop. Because of the items that were received, studying has become more effective. These items have truly allowed students to have their study guides become fun, interesting and their own creation.”
