These tablets and headphones will make an incredible impact in my student's lives because they will have access to technology. Technology is all around us from restaurants to toll booths and my students need to learn the skills to become technologically savvy. My students will be utilizing apps to create their own resumes, share files with each other, inventory books, and take part in various media productions.
Also, my students are learning to read and reading to learn. Since my students are at various reading levels, they are challenged differently. This makes using technology an amazing way to address their needs. Students will read books on the Kindles and listen to them being read. Students will also practice fluency games and learn to self-correct by reading and recording their own speaking out loud. This is a very important part of self-monitoring and addressing their self-identified gaps in understanding or learning.
