  • Back to Basics for First Grade Success!

    Funded May 11, 2023

I can't thank you enough for support my students and my classroom! My first grade students were so excited to receive their brand-new whiteboards, markers and erasers. We are using them practically every day during phonics and then again at our Math Review time. I love how I can easily and quickly see their work and catch any errors. They use these materials individually, with partners and in small groups.

As the weather has turned cooler, my students love getting a snack at recess time to keep their energy up for a full morning of learning. They are learning manners, saying please and thank you and also to be responsible with the trash leftover. Plus, the snacks taste great!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dawson

  • Back to Basics for First Grade Success, Part 2

    Funded Dec 28, 2022

I can't thank you enough for support my students and my classroom! My first grade students were so excited to receive these new Magnetic Building Tiles. We are using them practically every day during centers and at our Math Review time. I love how the students can manipulate the shapes to create composite shapes. It is so important to have these hands-on materials to make our math lessons more meaningful. My students can follow guided patterns or be creative and construct their own inventions! They use these materials individually, with partners and in small groups.

As the weather turned rainy and we were stuck inside, my students loved getting a snack at recess time to keep their energy up for a full morning of learning. They are learning manners, saying please and thank you and also to be responsible with the trash leftovers. Plus, the snacks taste great!”

They are looking forward to Spring when we get our caterpillars to put in our Butterfly Farm and watch them turn into beautiful butterflies. So many memories are made in first grade, this is one of the most exciting ones!”

  • Back to Basics! Back to School!

    Funded Oct 12, 2021

I am so grateful to you for your generous donations. Currently my students are using these supplies as part of my Reading Intervention program. Students are so motivated to do their best in my reading groups and earn time working with these engaging STEM materials. Students have the choice for their activities, so it's especially rewarding when they choose to read more books! These new books I have received are very popular with my students. They love reading stories about people that look like them and their families, and current well-known athletes and political leaders.

My students are working so hard to close some of their learning gaps due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I love having fun snacks to reward them after a long week, plus the extra cleaning supplies to keep my classroom and materials as clean and disinfected as possible. Everyday I am so thankful to have Donors Choose and amazing people like you to help me do the best for my students!”

  • Read It! Write It!

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Thank you so much for the many new library books and writing materials for my students. I was able to create an online "Classroom Library" to showcase the wonderful stories written by so many diverse authors. Many of my students have not had access to stories and literature that feature characters that look like them or have similar family experiences. My students were able to check-out these books packed up safely and ready with the to-go lunches they grabbed at school each day during COVID school closure. Along with these library books, I was able to provide Writing Journals to use at home during our online Reading Intervention classes. This has helped my students to be ready and prepared to learn!”

  • Back to School at Home!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you so much for the materials to complete my "Back to School at Home!" project. These supplies were packed and ready for families to "drive-thru" and pick up at our school. My students were so happy to get much needed pencils, white board markers, magnet letters and so much more! They were so cute asking me, "Can I use the blue marker for this writing lesson or do I use the black one?" Some asked if they could share supplies with their siblings and I had enough to take more to their homes! Your generosity has made Distance Learning better for many students!”

  • Make Our Classroom a Healthy and Clean Place to Learn!

    Funded Dec 12, 2019

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My students were so excited to open our Healthy Classroom materials. They eagerly cleaned their Chromebooks and our desks, removing dirt and germs to keep our classroom a healthy learning environment. I know this will improve my students' school attendance and will keep their Chromebooks working better and longer. This has been a challenging flu season and having many boxes of tissues around the room has helped my students get a tissue quickly and get back to work. Your generosity means so much to us and we are very grateful. I had no idea when I posted this project just how important these materials would be to us. The Coronavirus pandemic closed our school, but we will have much needed cleaning and disinfecting supplies when we return.”

  • Ready, Set, Read and Write!

    Funded Aug 28, 2019

Thank you so much for supporting my classroom! My students were so excited to see the fancy new colored white board markers. They are really motivated to write and learn phonics and sight words -- they ask every day in reading groups, "Are we writing today? What sounds are we going to practice today?" Really!! The fun materials really make a difference. They also love the new binders for their Guided Reading journals. I have noticed that they use them at other times of the day as well, so I know they are the perfect resource for my struggling writers. They love having a place to practice the new skills they are learning. Thank you again for your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dawson

My goal for the upcoming school year is to increase attendance. One way to improve attendance is by eliminating the amount of germs that float around in our classroom. Germs lead to many student absences and lost learning opportunities. Students are coming into school with runny noses and colds, and its important to stop the spread of germs and keep our classroom healthy. Clorox Wipes, computer wipes, aerosol spray will help decontaminate and clean all of our surface areas in our classroom. Having sufficient Kleenex will enable students to be able to cover and wipe their noses without having to leave the classroom. Once we have created a clean and healthy atmosphere, it will lead to healthier students, improved attendance, and a better education!
