  • Microscopes: Bringing Science Into Focus

    Funded Aug 13, 2023

My fifth grade students have had a blast with our new microscopes. The screens have made using them so much simpler, therefore, we have used them so much! My student's couldn't wait to look at all kinds of things they have found around the classroom and from home.

Almost everyday someone comes in super excited to look at their new find up close and even get pictures. Even the students who are harder to engage have gotten interested and look forward to "microscope days". Thank you for helping make our science classroom more interactive and exciting.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morgan

  • Growing Green in 5th Grade

    Funded Nov 4, 2022

Our plants are growing nicely, right along with my students' knowledge. Planting the seeds was a great experience, and the students have been so excited each day since to come in and check the progress. The first day we had a sprout appear was so exciting.

We have charted and graphed the progress we are seeing and we have learned a few hard lessons about over caring for our plants and causing them harm. This project has added so much excitement and interest to my classroom. I can't thank you enough for making this possible for my students this year and for years to come.”

  • Future Forensic Experts in Training

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

We were so excited to receive our kit! As soon as the students heard that we would be investigating a crime scene and using forensic clues to solve a crime, they couldn't wait to get started.

This project allows us to learn about hereditary traits, how fingerprints work, and generally how to pay attention to details. Today one of the biggest struggles with students is getting them to pay attention to detail. When we can achieve that goal while having fun authentic learning occurs. We cannot thank you enough for making this a reality for my 5th graders.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morgan

  • Fun with a Dichotomous Key

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

Using the dichotomous key project with my students has been an incredible success. I have been able to see them developing so many skills. Learning to identify details, following written instructions, and working in a group are just a few of the ways my students have benefited.

This activity is challenging and requires students to think beyond what they are accustomed to. When students have to work with others to solve a problem, authentic learning takes place. Opportunities like this, thank to donors like you, increase not only learning, but activate students minds to discovering their passions!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Morgan

Exciting, investigative projects enable my students to develop a love of learning. I believe if we develop a love of learning in children at an early age, we set them up to be successful in their future. This DNA fingerprinting kit will allow my students to get out of a textbook and into authentic hands-on learning. They will not only learn science skills but also learn to think outside the box and work with a team toward a common goal. I believe the skills acquired through this project would benefit students all the way to college or career. These are skills that will benefit students for a lifetime!
