We WONDER How We Can Add Movement to Reading

We finally have found time to read our Wonder books. My class is very excited. I have been told by many of my students that they "really, really wanted to read the book." Everyday they tell me , "NO, we want to read more!" But, class time ends. The chair bands have helped many students. One student, I have in class, has completely stopped getting up and down and wiggling in her seat. Another student has improved on grades with the chair band! Thank you so much for the donations. You are appreciated more than you will ever know!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Oklahoma City Thunder and 8 other donors.

These Wonder books will be used as a class novel study. We will then write a play about the book to share with others in our school. We will create our own costumes and backdrops and props. The children are very excited about this project, and I'm sure they will be touched as they read the heartwarming story. This book will be a positive way to reinforce the importance of treating our classmates and others with respect, and also a reminder that every word we speak can either lift others up or can easily tear them down. We will focus not only on the literary aspect of the book, but also on using it to help us all become better people. The chair band will be a start to a classroom collection to keep our students engaged in learning. We know that movement is a key to learning.
