  • Dissolved Oxygen Meter for Our Ecocolumns

    Funded Nov 27, 2019

    Thank you for your kindness and willingness to give toward "Dissolved Oxygen Meter for Our Ecocolumns." With the dissolved oxygen meter that was donated, my students have been able to and will continue to deepen their understanding of the scientific concepts we are studying with the ecocolumn longitudinal study. Additionally, now my students will have the opportunity to become familiar with a tool that they will see in college and professional laboratories.

    My students were excited to see that they had brand-new dissolved oxygen probe. Previously, we have been working with very old, non-functional probeware. We had incomplete data sets and data that was not reliable. The students were thrilled to be able to finish out the ecocolumn longitudinal study by being able to create accurate data sets to analyze. My students became increasing engaged in the curriculum and are becoming more skilled scientists.

Students have more success retaining information and feel a more ownership of their educational experience if they "do" rather than memorize work of others. Science, specifically Biology, provides the perfect opportunity to learn about scientific concepts and real-world phenomena through experience. The Carolina Investigations for AP Biology Bundle lab kits have everything needed for 8 hands-on labs, including the required chemicals and live materials. I have a passion for Biology and and for providing the best possible learning experiences for my students. I am confident that these hands-on labs and will enrich the learning experiences of my AP Biology students.

About my class
