  • School Food Pantry Needs

    Funded Mar 30, 2024

This project was able to sustain our food pantry program for a short time more. Myself, my school and my students are extremely thankful for everyone who donated. Again, this project went toward non-perishable food items for our school's backpack program. This program gives students/families in need food items to take home over the weekends.

Students were thrilled to know that they had food to take home to their families. Parents were equally grateful for the extra as well. This program is near and dear to our school's heart and speaks toward our school district's mission of "Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes". So, again I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Whited

  • Make Learning Language Fun!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

We have been able to expand our multilingual learning using our Teachers Pay Teachers gift card donated by you. We were able to purchase phonics resources specific for multilingual learners. This has made learning phonemic awareness more accessible for students of other languages. Not only have we been using our resources in the classroom, but also in our after school tutoring program. This is a big, big part of our reading success plans for our students who are reading 2 or more grade levels behind their peers. So, thank you for helping all our students, not just our multilingual students succeed.”

  • Building a Fantastic ELL Classroom

    Funded May 5, 2022

My students and I are using the items from our Donors Choose daily in our classroom. Students are so excited when they use the Colors of the World colored pencils and our pocket chart has been used in small group everyday. Along with that our label maker has made staying organized much easier. In our English as a Second Language classroom there are many different levels of learning going on. With that having the numerous different colors of whiteboard markers makes staying organized much simpler. I am able to color code each grades learning goals. This makes learning much easier. Thank you for your generous donation!”

  • Amazing Stories for Amazing Kids!

    Funded Aug 14, 2019

These books have helped my introduce figurative language, text features, and so much more. It has also just instilled a love for reading in my students. They love to borrow and read from Ms. Whited's classroom library.

In my classroom we always find a "comfy spot" to read. Not everyone likes to read sitting at their desks (some do), so I have created different seating options in the classroom for students to read in. Seating options such as beach chairs, Big Joe bean bag chairs, big pillows and carpeted areas. Along with that, students can pick a reading buddy to read with. I have to say, all of my students are enjoying the books and are always so excited when it's their turn to read one that someone else has been reading. With a happy heart and happy kids, thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Whited

  • Comfortable, Cozy Kids

    Funded Aug 3, 2019

The resources that we were able to obtain through DonorsChoose have been put to good use in our classroom. The students love the new seating area and it has become a great hang out place. Also, students work extra hard to become the Star Reading Student of the Day in order to have the opportunity to sit in the seating area with a friend.

My students were stoked about all the new items in our classroom this year. They were especially excited about the Big Joe chairs. They absolutely love them! Our next step is to get some great bookshelves for our reading area. The ones we currently have are not doing great and most of our books are in tubs on the floor. We really would like a nice, sturdy classroom library for all our books. Thank you so much for giving to my students. It means the world to all of us.”

    With gratitude,

  • Light the World.... Creating a Calming Classroom With Simple Lighting.

    Funded Jul 22, 2019

Your generosity has greatly impacted the atmosphere of our classroom. Students were more excited then ever to begin school this year and it has really improved everyone's concentration. For lack of better words, my students lit up when they walked into the classroom and saw our amazing lamps and lights strung across the ceiling. They were so excited to come to school and learn in our wonderfully lit classroom. Thank you so much for everything and giving to my students. We currently do not have a project in the works, but we are working toward building an amazing classroom library. We have already read over 40 picture books this year and excited to keep going and build our library up.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Whited

  • Help Us Expand Our Minds With Technology!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for our classroom headphones! They are wonderful! The kids will use them daily. They will be an amazing asset to future students and they will get used often. We are so grateful and blessed to have extraordinary people out there willing to donate to our classroom. We are humbled by you generosity and will continue to sing your praises. There are not enough words to express how much this donation means to my students or myself. My students are grateful and I am grateful. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Whited

My classroom is an environment of love and learning. I strive to make a safe place for my students to learn and a place where they feel at home to be themselves. Our small, tight knit community is a family in a lot of ways. We love each other, we step up for each other, and when we are in need someone is always there. This is not just our school, but our school district. We are a family, plain and simple. Our district mission statement says it all, "Every child, every day, what ever it takes!"
