We are lucky to have a curriculum that exposes our students to science, social studies, reading, writing and current events. With the Chromebooks, I can provide my students with the experience of accessing all of the activities, and allow for them to have the independence of navigating through them in a guided format. Currently, we are limited to the use of the Promethean and paper and pencil format. The world of technology has allowed for my students to access their environment with a much higher success rate. I can have some students practice their typing, other students taking a pre-test, meanwhile another can read a supplementary article on the subject. The touch-screen allows for the students to zoom in with just a movement of the finger, which benefits the students with the visual impairments. This would eliminate the need for the adult to have to enlarge paper copies as often. In addition, it would allow many of my students to better access the computer independently, for the manipulation of the mouse and/or touch pad is limited or impossible, due to their physical limitations. It also allows for the classroom to work on a variety of different activities, at the same time. Having these tools open a whole new world for my students and I would love to be able to provide them this opportunity.
