In the classroom, I will use the iPad by controlling the Smartboard from anywhere in the room; this will enable the students to answer questions from the iPad (rather than interrupting class, taking time walking across the room, and/or being too shy to go up to the front) and to allow students to use it in many ways such as learning games and practice with grammar sites/apps. Students who do not have computer access at home could come to me during lunch, after school, or even during one of my other classes to work on projects/essays without having to interrupt class at all. There are so many new apps available that would enhance student involvement and interest. I can get the Microsoft Office app so that students have access to all the programs they would normally use for projects and essays on a PC. A document camera can be used in the classroom to enhance the relevancy and effectiveness of student writing and criticism of literature by engaging students with their own work on the big screen. The document camera will be used to help students edit their own work and improve their writing and annotating skills using class workshopping methods. With the help of this project, my students will have access to technology any time they need it. None of my students will ever have to feel bad about not having a computer at home, nor will they have to miss out on important things like writing college entrance essays and applying to colleges because they can't get into a packed computer lab during school hours. This will level the playing field for my students so that their brain power will be able to truly shine!
