Funded Dec 4, 2019Thank you SO much for your generosity and for your support to public education in New York City.
The donation of Arduino kits and programmable LED lights will help my students get a hands-on experience with the world of electricity.
My students are going to be so excited when the materials arrive!”

Funded Mar 3, 2019THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for an AMAZING Day today!! The kids and I had a wonderful day at Yankee Stadium - Yankees won 7 -0!
Today was a special day for both the students and teachers at BIHS. Many students told me today that this was their first experience EVER at a professional sports venue. Watching them smile, laugh, eat all kinds of greasy food was a beautiful experience.....they also collected a lot of data (note the green paper!)
Thanks to all of your wonderful donations, my students got to experience one of the greatest past times in history...baseball!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU..... I have the BEST FRIENDS in the WORLD!!!!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Narea
The Power of Science
Funded Dec 20, 2018Thank you all for funding this project and for providing my students with different types of hands-on science activity kits. Your donation of snap circuits, electricity and magnetism experiment kits has provided students the opportunity to create models which help them understand various content.
With your donation of snap circuits, students have been learning how switches control the electricity to the lights in your home and how series and parallel circuits affect electricity.
Students have also been using the mini stream tables to explore how water shapes the land. Students built a miniature river inside the classroom. Students then watched the evolution of a river unfold at an accelerated rate.
Thank you all for your support.”

Mr. Narea
It Is Time To Size Up!
Funded Nov 23, 2018Thank you all for funding this project and providing my students with different types of measuring tools. Scientists use many skills as they investigate the world around them - measurement is one of these skills. Measurement is a fundamental concept in science. Without the ability to measure, it would be difficult for scientist to conduct experiments or form theories.
Your donation of balance beams, thermometer, meter sticks and different size mass has provided my students the opportunity to become scientist in my classroom. Students have been able to complete several labs which has required them to manipulate various tools in order to find their answer.
Once again, thank you all for your support.”

Lead-Free Water for All Kids!
Funded Oct 2, 2018Thank you all for funding this project and providing my students with easy access to clean water. The water cooler in the classroom has minimized the long lines at the coolers in the hallway. The teachers and administration in the school are very happy about this.
In addition to reducing the lines at the coolers in the hallways, some students have even said that the drinking water from the classroom water cooler tastes better than the water from the coolers in the hallway!
Again, thank you for your generosity and for supporting public education in New York City.”

Hearing the Language We Are Learning
Funded Feb 1, 2018Thank you so much for your donation of headphones to my classroom. All of my students are language learners, and we have been working on creating podcasts to share information from our research. The podcast process requires students to research, write a script, practice speaking in English, and recording their voice. When students hear their speaking voice in the recording process, it helps for them to practice pronunciation, and correct errors.
The headphones have been instrumental in making this project more engaging and supportive of this process. Along with headphone splitters, students have been able to plug in to the same laptop and listen to each other record. We have been able to share our podcast at a listening party, where everyone listens to the podcasts in English.
These headphones aren't only helpful to this project. Students can use these when creating videos, editing in garageband or iMovie, and also when listening to educational videos and English instruction online. These resources will also be shared with other teachers for projects in other classrooms.
Thank you so much for your support of these projects!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Narea
