When I set up my class there were no books for preschoolers. While my kids cannot read, access to books is so important as prereaders. The books I picked are mostly board books that have bright, attractive images and pages that can withstand 3-5 years old hands. Books open a world for us. Just as preschool is a beginning of our traditional education, books give us access to people and places our little friends are just beginning to learn about. Sure they will never see dancing giraffes, but the idea they can do anything if they can do anything they set their mind to is so important. I am hoping our library can open a world of imagination.
