  • Clean Start!

    Funded Jul 29, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations. We are two weeks into this new school year and we have gotten so much done. With all the new norms with your help I am able to make sure that my students are staying safe and covid free. I gave each student masks and personal hand sanitizers to place in their backpacks and I educated them on why it is important to where them and cleanse their hands often. I have made sure that when they come in and leave their desk are clean and sanitized. I also started using the Glade to make sure the class smells good and is inviting. Although this is only the beginning I am so excited to see my students back in school and ready to learn despite the stresses of the pandemic. Thank you so much for your donation and making this all possible.”

  • Team Building to Support Social Emotional Learning

    Funded May 17, 2021

Wow, wow, wow! Just in the nick of time. The snacks and games came just in time for our end of the year activities. I could not wait to distribute the snacks to the students as soon as the snacks came in, I immediately packaged them up in the containers that were donated and brought some of them to school to give to the students. Each day I will bring snacks for the students to enjoy. At the end of the year I will bag them up for the students in a cute bag so that they can take them home over the summer. I wish that I could save some for next school year because the snacks are so rewarding to the students. Also we will use the board games to play during Fun Friday activities to assist them with team building. Thank you so much for making school more fun for my wonderful students.”

  • An Apple a Day for Effective Instruction, Hooray!

    Funded May 5, 2021

Thank you so much for providing a clear way for my students to access their learning. The previous laptop I had was damaged by one of the students and the desktop in the classroom makes it difficult for me to teach and assist around the class as needed. With this device I am able to be the super hero in more than one place to assist my students as needed. They are very excited. I also try to show them how to be gentle with materials by letting them use the device as well when they need to. This is awesome. We really appreciate your support.”

  • Fun Friday Food!

    Funded Feb 17, 2021

Thank you for providing my students with delicious snacks that they enjoyed during this unusual style of learning. Students felt warmth as they were provided with snacks in the morning to get there day going and in the afternoon to give them an extra boost. Snacks were also used for our Fun Friday incentives where we had parties for the students every Friday who managed to do well on their behavior management plan. This has increased students behaviors and also shows them that they can get rewarded for good behaviors and redirect their attention seeking to positive behavior strategies. Thank you for quenching the thirst and preventing hunger in my students throughout the day.”

  • Second Screen So We Can Accomplish More!

    Funded Feb 20, 2021

What a huge difference the second screen has made. It has allowed me to effectively teach my students and see them at the same time. I am also able to effectively smoothly transition from one assignment to another without the convenience of delaying. The students are more engaged and I am less exhausted because now I can even work with students in a small group while monitoring the other students. During my meetings I can easily navigate and share my screen to parents while continuously instructing my students. Thank you so much for your generous donations.”

  • A Bit of Motivation Will Go Along Way.

    Funded Sep 11, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations. I have been able to have student of the months which is motivating students to do the right thing. I also used two of the Dominos pizza gift cards to have a Fun Friday event where the students were able to have Dominos pizza and drinks. During that time we played and the winners also received gift cards. The gift cards were a hit and it is motivating students to do well anticipating to be able to get one. So far I did student of the month for the months of August-November. There were students that were so happy and cried because they never were nominated for student of the month. Under these conditions and during this pandemic when students are still trying their best they should be rewarded and with the donations you provided you have helped motivate students and made some of their dreams come true.”

  • The Best Class Library for the Best Students!

    Funded Jun 29, 2020

Thank you for donation that allowed me to purchase a diverse set of books for my student. They are so happy to have reading time and be able to select books that have situations and people that they can relate to. My students are thrilled to have the books and are able to take them home and keep them due to the pandemic. Some of my students have mentioned that this was the first book that they have owned. They are reading the books quickly and have decided to start a book club where they can read together, discuss and perform skits depicting the plots from the stories. It was really difficult to get the students to read but now with these selections they are eager and ready to learn.”

  • Classroom Materials Needed for Well Deserved Students

    Funded Oct 16, 2019

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating the much-needed supplies to my students. We have come a long way with the multiple supplies. With the markers, paper, cutter, stapler, color pencils, and other supplies my students have been able to decorate the hallways to build the school culture and they have also been able to complete multiple projects in class with the supplies that they need to be successful. I am so excited that the students are taking more ownership in beautifying the hallways and, making sure that no one is will destroy it because it is student created. Without the generous donations, the students would not be able to have the necessities to do what they do best and that is being creative and prepared for any project. Thank you for making this possible.”

  • Diverse Dolls for Diverse Learners

    Funded Sep 23, 2019

I would like to thank you for donating the Ethnic Dolls to my classroom. The dolls look nice and are the special touch that the class needed. Having the dolls in the classroom makes the classroom feel inviting. My students were so delighted to see them. They helped with the unpackaging of them and placing them in their new homes (places in the classroom). Currently our lessons is about diversity and "What Defines Home?" We have been reading stories about students who have migrated to America for many reasons. I also have some new students that just arrived to the country and do not speak any English. All the students felt good holding the dolls as I let them pass them around to welcome them into the classroom. I engaged the students in a conversation and they really took the time to listen. My hope is that the students take the lessons in the classroom and apply it in their everyday lives that although we may look different we are all the same and should be treated equally. There is so much that I can do with these dolls to teach lessons. Thank you so much for your support.”

Being a reading teacher, I incorporate technology in my classroom on a daily basis. The core reading program that we use in the classroom has a technology piece where students access that program online. In addition, I provide my students with other online reading programs that target specifically their reading deficiencies to help build those skills that they need to become more effective readers. Also, technology is fun, engaging, and motivates the students to learn. Right now, my school's technology has suffered from Hurricane Irma and we are in the need of more computers and laptops. Being in Miami, I have many students that come from other countries and are learning English as a second language and recently, we have received many students from Puerto Rico that needed to leave their homes because of Hurricane Maria. I realize that I really need to help them become acclimated to a new place while learning to speak, read, and write English. My students learning English are able to access programs where they can translate words from their native language to English, use online programs to learn English, build their English vocabulary, and learn how to read and pronounce English words. Technology will make this possible. Please help fund my project so I can help my students become better readers and really learn English well.
