The supplies from this project will be utilized in nineteen classrooms, two resource rooms, and three offices, and will benefit over 500 students. We are creating "cool down bins" to place in each of these rooms that will help students do just that- cool down. All students face various emotions and it is difficult for classroom teachers to help them work through it all. From frustrations in school, to problems with peers, to issues in their home life, our students have a lot on their plates and they need as much support as we can give in a school day. The cool down bins will be composed of several sensory items and can be used to help children take a calming break when needed throughout the day. Some of these items include stress balls, pinwheels, putty, stuffed animals, fidgets, and calming strategies. Each room will be trained on how to use these items as tools to help regulate emotions and behaviors of students. When used in this manner, these tools can help students become more self-sufficient in managing their emotions and behaviors.
