  • Are There Any Pigeon Books?

    Funded Dec 22, 2024

There is nothing more exciting for my students than telling them we have new books! Both students and myself love having new reading materials.

My library is extremely outdated and has been underfunded for decades. Having books that are that old and well worn limited the choices my students had.

Having Donors Choose has opened doors and opportunities for my students to increase their literacy exponentially. We thank the donors that support my students and open doors for them.

From my very deserving students a very heartfelt thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Walkama

  • Are There Any Dogman Books?

    Funded Dec 19, 2024

These are my students favorite books. No matter who many I have on the shelf they are gone within a few classes.

We are an inner city school with no budget at all for our school library. Having Donors Choose to help me add to our book collection is such a gift. My students do not have access to books except those available to them in school.

It is so important to have high interest books available for my students. Many are English language learners and reading helps them develop their language skills.

    We thank you so much.”

  • Do You Have Any Scary Books?

    Funded Feb 5, 2025

My students will be so excited. They asked about getting some “scary books” and you made their wish come true. Having books they requested makes them feel they have input into our library classes.

Our collection is very outdated and having these books will add to our choices for my very special students!”

  • Do You Have Any Soccer Books?

    Funded Dec 13, 2024

Thank you so much for your kindness. We are an inner city Title 1 school and I have no budget at all for a school library that sees almost 600 students each week.

Soccer is the top favorite sports books that my students ask for. Best teams best players are all up for discussion with my students. My library collection is so outdated we had no books on soccer.

My students deserve to have high interest reading material. With Donors Choose support my students have book choices which encourage them to become life long readers.”

  • Where Is the Glue?

    Funded Jan 16, 2025

Thank you so much your donation is greatly appreciated. I have no budget at all for my library and depend on kind people like you to support my students.

Having these supplies will benefit my library classes so much. Having 600 students each week my basic supplies are used up quickly.

    Again thank you!”

  • Graphic Novels Are the Best!

    Funded Dec 9, 2024

My students can't thank you enough for your kindness. They were so excited to come back from their Holiday break to see the wonderful pile of books that greeted them.

I have the most wonderful students and they deserve to have a fully functioning library with reading materials that are of high interest.

Because of our district's budget problems our libraries unfortunately have suffered greatly. Our books were very outdated and will the help of Donors Choose contributors I have been able to offer new reading choices to them.

From my students please accept this heartfelt thank you.”

  • Are There Any New Graphic Novels?

    Funded Dec 25, 2024

Thank you so much from my wonderful students. There is nothing more exciting than sharing news that we have new books.

The New Year will start right with new reading opportunities for my students. We are so lucky to have Donors Choose help students where there is no funding in the local budget to give them what they need in a school library.”

  • Are There Any New Graphic Novels?

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Graphic novels are the favorite in our school library. Having new ones has excited my students on their library classes each week. Love seeing them compare the ones they have read with each other.

The I Survived Series is a huge hit. Not only are these books requested daily but they also are historically correct. Once a students reads one of these books they come back and ask if there are other books on this topic.

Our book collection is so outdated many of these topics it is the first book in our library on that particular topic.

Creating an early readers creates lifelong creates a life long reader.

    Thank you so much.”

We have close to 500 wonderful students representing countries from all over the world. I see all the students from pre k to Grade 5 during weekly classes each week in the library. I believe that library should be an experience with a read aloud of books that represent themselves and the world around them. They should also experience creativity tied into what they have learned in the book that was heard.
