21st Century Teaching
Funded Sep 17, 2020I want to thank you on behalf of all of my students for your generosity in providing me with the tools needed to teach this year. While I received many wonderful products, the one that has impacted my students the most is the document camera. I am now able to manipulate math aids under the camera and show my students exactly how to use them. My lessons are more engaging for the students now that they can see how to use their tools.
Teaching virtually has presented it's own set of difficulties. One of which was being able to hear my students clearly. There was always just enough background noise that my students had to repeat themselves quite often. The new headphones that I received have solved this problem. They are noise cancelling and have made it easier for me to hear my students clearly. This has saved a great deal of frustration on the part of the student as well as for me. In fact, my students are very happy to not have to repeat themselves. They wish they could all have a pair for themselves as well. Perhaps my next project should be to get 25 new headphones for my students.
I have made plans to utilize the interactive whiteboard system once we return to face-to-face learning. While I haven't been able to use this yet, just knowing that I have it allows me to begin creating more interactive lessons in preparation for a return to school.
I will be able to use the tools that I now have in both a virtual and face-to-face setting. My students will be able to clearly see the work modeled for them, which will help with their understanding.
Again, I can't thank you enough for your support.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for funding our snap cubes and privacy boards. Our students have been using these items in class and it has helped them tremendously. The privacy boards came in just in time for testing. Some of our students have a hard time staying focused and not getting distracted. They were able to use the boards to help them focus on their work.
Our 1st graders were just getting ready to start their graphing unit. They were very excited when they were able to use the snap cubes to help them create their graphs. It really helped them to see the number of units for each color as they created their graphs. In fact, some of the students used the snap cubes to create the graph on their desk and then were able to re-construct it onto their graph paper based on what their created using the snap cubes. This type of hands on manipulation has a real impact on their understanding.
Your contribution to this project has made a real impact with our students and will continue to make an impact in the coming years.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Wheat
