Eclectic and diverse best describes my students. They represent a wide variety of cultures, socio-economic status, learning abilities and life experiences. They are mostly 9th graders coming in to the high school around age 14-15. They are funny and witty, and some teach you more classroom management techniques. They all deserve a chance to be shown empathy and to learn to offer it in return. In our attempts to encourage healthful thinking about body awareness/wellness, our classroom situation does not help us. We meet in a trailer that is as boring as they come. We have dressed it up the best we can to make it a warm and inviting space for all students.
