Decodable Reads
Funded Dec 10, 2022Your generous donation to students has already held a huge impact and, guess what, gets to continue to have an impact year after year for so many more!
The students I service are often in need of additional support and very explicit instruction on how to read the different types of words. We start small and grow to more complex words as students begin to recognize words on sight and don't need to spend as much of their cognitive load on easier words.
The books provided give my students options to access chapter books, which, if you know anything about kids, is the coolest thing to be reading a chapter book! One of my students was beaming ear to ear telling all the other kids, "Ms. Lang gave me my first chapter book!"”

Funded Jan 24, 2022What a treat to have such a beautiful classroom carpet to bring all students together in their learning! Our class uses our new classroom carpet multiple times daily during whole group lessons, small group lessons, and students love to hang out during independent work time on the rug as well.
When we first opened the rug, students found the colors so bright and inviting. Most students immediately picked a color they wanted to be their 'spot.' Students even wanted to keep the large cardboard tube in the middle of the rug for a class project! (Yet to be determined).
As we wrap up this year, please know that both the students and myself are very grateful. Next year, a new group of students will get to enjoy the classroom carpet as well.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021We are so grateful for the recess equipment to play with every day! We are sharing out with the other classrooms that are outside at the same time and almost all of the equipment gets used every day! Soccer is very popular as is basketball. Many students have also started learning to jump rope with the provided jump ropes!
Students are learning social skills such as teamwork, sharing, and taking turns using the equipment and they really look forward to recess (maybe more than before anyway!). Thank you so much!”

Funded Jun 16, 2021What an amazing gift the legos have been to our learning community! Students are consistently engaged and often hoping for some free time to do some free creation! One of the things I was most surprised about the project materials is that students are working together to create. The sense of community is very strong with this group of students and they enjoy working together to build something with their imagination.
Students have used legos for math, reading, and creative play throughout the year. One area we are going to continue to use them for is math. Students are very tactile learners and we plan on playing a game with the legos about double-digit addition where a partner puts a lego in the other's hand. The student then, by feeling only, has to figure out what the double-digit addition problem is!”

Growing Learners
Funded Jul 14, 2021It is so wonderful to see students engaged with the growing center provided to us. Students have planted some store-bought flower seeds as well as seeds they've collected from plants or even fruits and veggies from the lunchroom!
Daily, as students enter the classroom, they check on the plants to see the growth from over night. It is always a special treat when we come back on a Monday or a long weekend to see sprouts or some definite growth!
For the next steps, students are going to begin charting the plant growth, making scientific observations, and hypotheses. We may even do some experimenting to see what grows best, and what doesn't really seem to work. What a great opportunity to become critical thinkers!”

Puppet Power!
Funded Mar 27, 2018I am sincerely grateful for the support for materials for my students in the classroom. The students were so excited to open the box and see all the new puppets to play and learn with. Immediately, they began to decide which ones they wanted to play with first.
Anyone walking by my classroom can attest to the increase in noise level which, as it turns out, is just increased oral language brought on by the puppets. Students are talking to one another and creating fun stories with the puppets.
As we continue to learn and grow this year, we will be able to use the puppets to learn the art of storytelling.”
