On a recent field trip, my curious students was exposed to robotic coding. Now they have been bitten by the coding bug! Robots are the wave of the future, and 2018 is the Year of the Robot. So why not bring Ozobots into our classroom, and make STEM come alive with artificial intelligence! This cutting edge technology will take my students' learning to the next level. They will have the opportunity to work in small groups to learn how to block code, customizing their robot to do what they want it to do-turn, spin, jump, blink and so much more! Ozobot even comes with different skins, so that my 5 groups may personalize their robot to look different from each others. These little programmable robots are packed with technology and include built-in speakers and multiple functioning modes. My students can even code their Ozobot to follow their finger around or to play specific musical notes when tapped! Maybe we will map out and code a story setting from one of our favorite picture books and have our Ozobots follow the path of the main character, or perhaps we will create a timeline in history and have our Ozobots move through the important markers. The possibilities are endless for my creative and eager students, who have a thirst for knowledge. And of course, we will write numerous stories about our Ozobots adventures. Please help my boys and girls step into the 21st century prepared, confident and tech-savvy with this awesome form of technology!
