  • Special Learners Learn Especially Different

    Funded Nov 1, 2022

A huge thank you to the State of Oklahoma for supporting our classroom, along with so many others.

My students were so excited to receive new learning manipulatives. They love hands-on learning opportunities. I am hopeful that the language building sets we received will help my students expands their vocabulary and be able to use it more readily. Being able to see an object and touch it while hearing the word really helps them lock the new word in their brain. They love the farm set and are able to identify the animals as well as make the sounds. This makes their learning fun and exciting.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hill

  • Seeking Sensory Supplies

    Funded Feb 10, 2022

Thank you so much for the generous donation to help my special education classroom get needed supplies. My students have enjoyed getting to use the sensory supplies we have received from this project.

My students need extra practice with strengthening hand muscles, as well as ways to help them calm down after a tough moment in their classrooms.

The kids were so excited to get to help open boxes and their smiles showed just how happy they were to have new manipulatives to work with in the classroom! The theraputty and calm down sensory tubes were some of their favorite items.”

  • Flexibility in 5th

    Funded Oct 29, 2020

My students have been able to utilize flexible seating every day! They can move around and find a seat that is comfortable for them while learning. During this time dealing with COVID-19, it is difficult to reach all students.

We have many students who are learning in a face to face setting. We also have students who are trying to learn face to face and then get quarantined because of COVID or from exposure to someone with COVID.

Being comfortable and being able to get out some wiggles has been great this year. The donation of the flexible seating options has made a huge impact on my classroom and being able to learn through these difficult times.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hill

  • Charging Through 5th Grade

    Funded Oct 19, 2020

My students have been able to utilize the charging station every day! They can charge the laptops and tablets that we use each day. During this time dealing with COVID-19, it is difficult to reach all students.

We have many students who are learning virtually and some are learning in a face to face setting. We also have students who are trying to learn face to face and then get quarantined because of COVID or from exposure to someone with COVID.

Utilizing online learning platforms has been essential this year. The donation of the charging stations has made a huge impact on my classroom and being able to learn through these difficult times.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hill

  • Digital Learning in a Traditional Classroom

    Funded Oct 16, 2020

Technology is so important to students today. Technology is a relevant part of learning and the world we live in. I plan on utilizing these tablets to access online curriculum that is available to our students. I also plan on teaching typing skills and page formatting to my students.

My students are excited we have technology available in the classroom without going to a computer lab. They are also so excited it is a tablet. Many of these students are accustomed to using tablets at home. I cannot wait to continue preparing them for the future by helping them use tablets for learning and writing.”

  • Super Sensory Supplies for PreK

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations to fund supplies for our classroom! I have been able to use the light cube to focus student learning while addressing sensory issues of my students. My kids have loved having the light cube. It has helped calm them down when they are frustrated, they can manipulate objects on it, and the colors having a calming effect on the students.

In our classroom, we are able to utilize the light cube as one learning rotation. We also use the sorting pies as another rotation. The students have benefited so much from the materials received from this project. We appreciate getting new materials to learn with.”

  • Moving and Grooving Through PreK

    Funded Jan 10, 2018

Thank you so much for the generous donations to our classroom! My students have been able to become more active by utilizing the resources we received. They love our Motor Lab sessions we have every day.

My students were so excited when we opened up all our boxes and got the new materials out! They especially love the sensory materials and balance beam. They are excited to use our new materials every day and they are improving fine and gross motor skills while playing.

I plan on continuing to implement the Motor Lab for all students so we can play and help the fine and gross motor movements of our PreK babies improve!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Hill

Many of my students struggle with understanding how to move their bodies throughout the environment around them. They also have a hard time expressing themselves and active play helps improve their expressions. Learning how to throw and catch a ball can teach a child how a particular movement pattern affects us or how we can change the movement pattern. This contributes to our kinesthetic awareness. All of these things help us perform what is a simple task to some. I strive to provide students with experiences to increase the likelihood of their success by developing their sensory and motor systems to their fullest. We will have a Motor Lab that my students use 20-30 minutes a day. By spending this small amount of time working on developing mature fine and gross motor movements, we should see more success and attention during classroom instruction. The balance beam will help the children see how they can control their body and make it move how they want. The sensory materials and textured balls will give my kids the sensory sensations they are looking for when they are fidgeting in the classroom or chewing on their shirt. Allowing kids to get the sensory input they need and learn how to control what they are doing by 20 minutes of activities focused on this will result in more attention during instruction. Give children time to grow, develop and learn about their bodies. Doing so will build a mature foundation of skills to better perform academic skills. The addition of activity equipment will be such an asset to all our PreK kids.
