This classroom project was brought to life by LOFT and one other donor.Preferential Seating Pillow Cases!
Funded Mar 20, 2018Thank you all so very much for your donation to my classroom! I have always believed that a classroom should be a place where the students come to learn, have fun, and that also feels like home.
This year in order to help me achieve that atmosphere I wanted to have these historically themed pillowcases for my students to use! I am so pleased to say that the students loved them! The more comfortable they feel in the classroom the more focused they can be on their classwork!
Thank you all again!”

"What if Hitler Won?": Help Me Face the Tough Questions
Funded Mar 1, 2018I want to sincerely thank you for your part in helping my class receive a class set of the book "The Only Thing to Fear" by Caroline Richmond. This is the first time I ever did a novel study in my class and thanks to your wonderful donations it went over magnificently. We started this book study by going over the history and legacy of World War II, which includes Hitler and the Holocaust. Once the introduction part of the lesson concluded, as always a student asked me; "What would the world be like if Hitler had won?" This is where we started to dive into the book study.
As a class we discussed Hitler and the despicable plan he wanted to try and achieve. When then began to read two chapters a day of "The Only Thing to Fear" with discussion questions at the end of two chapters. Also each chapter we discussed the realistic aspects of the book and the fantasy aspects of the book.
As we concluded the book study the students thoroughly enjoyed looking at a scary alternate reality that could have been. They also walked away with a new appreciation for the world they live in today, and realized that not all books about history (even an alternate history) have to be boring.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bryant
