  • Professional Calibrator for Optimal Performance

    Funded May 7, 2024

Thank you for funding the installation of the Epson Interactive Projector 725WI. The proper calibration and installation of the interactive projector has provided my classroom a high quality learning technology. It has elevated my presentations from ordinary to extraordinary.

The interactive projector has brought bright images bringing life to the regular dry erase whiteboard that has made my students more engaged and collaborative using the interactive pen to annotate and to work as a mouse.

The interactive projector with its superior installation and calibration has brought an optimal learning environment into the the classroom.

Our heartfelt thanks to you, our generous donors!”

  • Power of Technology in the Math Classroom

    Funded Mar 5, 2024

My students of my high school math classes would like to say a BIG "THANK YOU" for the Epson interactive projector 725Wi.This new education resource with its versatility, has greatly supported my teaching Geometry and AP Calculus, enabling me to create "visually compelling, engaging and interactive learning experiences" for my students. The technology tool has converted my classroom into a wide collaborative workspace allowing my students and me to annotate with whatever is projected on the screen. The flexible displays breathe new life into the classroom's regular dry-erase boards.

It has become a vital part of my teaching, turning my laptop into a massive tablet with the interactive pen which could be used as the mouse and for annotation. My students have definitely enjoyed the Brightlink technology with the bright images it has produced and the built-in interactive tools.

Our deep appreciation for your generous support!”

  • Laminate, Preserve, Reuse!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

The laminating machine has become a vital part of my teaching. Not only has the laminating machine enable me to create a bunch of various resources for my classroom, but it has also enhanced the appearance of these resources. I am able to keep these class activities in good enough conditions that I can reuse them year after year. The laminated activities such as the task cards has the added the dry-erase feature which allows students to write on them and erase for reuse. The lamination also makes it easy to clean the sheets.

Together with the laminating machine, the plastic display holders have made it easier for me to create station activities. Station problems in the display holders are simply placed on desks around the room and students can sit by each station to work on the problems.

Because of the flexibility that laminated materials can be used by a teacher like myself, I am able to "engage students in hands-on activities and collaborative learning, ultimately enhancing their understanding and retention of the subject matter."

    So thank you, donors!”

  • Organization and Collaboration for the Win!

    Funded Apr 28, 2023

My freshmen and sophomore students in my Geometry Honors classes would like to say "THANK YOU!" for the blue two pocket folders that you have generously donated. They liked the color very much as this is the color of our school (Go white-go blue- go Rangers!). The folder is a simple tool but is a very important learning tool for each student. One of the best ways to stay organized is with quality classroom folders. The folders help students safely secure their papers and handouts. This is one of the most helpful way to keep students' work organized. Students feel productive and some sense of success when everything they need for their learning geometry is in one place – their folders.

I would also want to express my gratitude for the $100 gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers, a site where educators are empowered with the various activities they can use in their classrooms. These activities vary from simple foldables to digital tasks such as Pixel art to collaborative, engaging activities such as Scavenger Hunt and WhoDunnit, to name a few.

My heartfelt thanks for your support. It's always great for my students to start the school year with a tool that will help them organize their learning materials in their math class. I'm always looking for resources to keep my students motivated, develop collaboration and critical thinking. Teachers Pay Teachers is a great place which provides me such resources. So thank you for the gift for TPT.

Our deep appreciation for your support!!!

    THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ortiz-Luis

  • Getting Organized and Engaged!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

My geometry students would like to convey their big "thank you" for the two pocket folders that you have generously provided for them. The folder has become a simple but very important learning tool for each student as you will read from some of their "thank you notes" that will be uploaded with the photos.

The students have become more organized with their stuff - from notes and handouts to homework. Since the folders have made it easier for the students to find their notes with practice examples, classwork, and other assignments, students have become less anxious or worried preparing and studying for quizzes and tests.

Organization is an important skill that students must develop as this is a skill that goes beyond the classroom.

I would also want to express my gratitude for the $100 gift card for Teachers Pay Teachers, a site where educators can find a huge selection of resources that are collaborative and engaging. My students had fun doing activities such as Who Dunnit , Scavenger Hunt, Pixel Art as they work together and learn from each other as you would see on the photos. The site allows me to offer a variety of activities to my students and when my students discuss - agree/disagree over some problem, this is "music" to my ears. I love it when I see and hear my students engaged, putting their heads together to solve a problem.

    Again, thank you so much!!!”

    Ms. Ortiz-Luis

  • Real-time Learning With a Pen Tablet

    Funded Oct 26, 2020

In behalf of my students in AP Calculus and Geometry, I would like to express my gratitude for the five Wacom One Tablet for Beginners (CTL472K1A). As our district continued remote learning for all students this SY20-21, I was faced with the challenge to make remote learning as engaging and effective as possible. These tablets arrived just in time. Although I didn't have the chance to have students use them in class, my students still have the advantage to continue to learn effectively through this Wacom tablet which I have integrated together with the other technology tools into my math instruction.

Since I would not have the ability to be in front of the classroom with the whiteboard and to use the projector, the pen tablet has allowed me to show my students lesson notes and step by step solutions of problems. With the tablet, I was able to make annotations and illustrate the process of mathematical thinking on the screen shared with students. It didn't matter which learning platform I used (google classroom, classkick, edpuzzle, or go formative). I was able to provide my students real-time feedback either with individual or small group activities (in breakout rooms). When I give students homework or classwork and they have questions or problems which they write on chat or via email or say out in class, I go to the student's individual work, share it on the screen, and do a quick evaluation with the pen tablet. I was able to answer students' questions in real time. I was able to keep the students engaged which empowered me to maintain "connection" with my students. Seeing me, hearing my voice as I explain with the Wacom tablet has made it possible to form a relationship, in place, with my students in a virtual learning environment.

The Wacom tablet has definitely made a real instruction impact in this digital environment. The tablet has empowered me with my teaching – writing "in the fly" problems for further understanding or comprehension of math concepts, providing my students with rich and engaging learning opportunities, unlocking math concepts. It has helped me optimize learning in the virtual environment – students achieving good results with their formative and summative assessments.

Again, I thank you for this very generous donation.”

    Ms. Ortiz-Luis

  • Empowering Learning With Binders

    Funded Oct 24, 2019

My students and I are very grateful for the binders because the binders have developed their organizational skills. Students have learned to divide the binders into sections tabbed as notes, classwork/homework, bellringers/exit slips, and quizzes/test. When asked for any task they have done, they can quickly and readily pull it out from their binders.

My students were glad to get this donation because not everyone was ready to purchase one when I required that each student have a binder for their geometry class. We discussed how binders can empower their learning. Binders will help them become successful students because they will learn to organize their tasks, a skill that goes beyond the classroom.

My students have not missed doing their assignments because they know exactly where to find their notes and classwork that provide the practice examples. Their organized notes and tasks make it easier for them to study for quizzes and tests. They have organized all tasks by dates. As organization is a transferable skill, I am confident that my students will be equipped with this skill in any lesson or project assigned to them.”

  • Technology Stations For Personalized Learning

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

I would like to express my gratitude in behalf of my Advanced Algebra/Trigonometry class for the two laptops that we received. These technology tools have helped empower my students and engage them in their various algebra lessons - notes, classwork, and skills practice.

With technology as one of the learning stations, I was glad to see how the tools have accommodated my diversified students' learning styles. As students learn independently, the tools also helped me gain an insight as to how an individual student learns best. As I became more aware of this, I was able to make them access websites (videos, PowerPoint's, games, simple steps to problem solving) that made learning easier and more comfortable for my students. In the process, they learned to collaborate with each other, paving the way for better understanding of the lesson and math fun.

Towards the end of the semester, more students were achieving better results with their formative and summative assessments. I was glad to see more students from my regular class willing to be challenged by enrolling into A.P. Calculus AB this fall.

Although I wish to have more of this tool in my classroom, I would like to say thank you again for helping me with these two laptops to start me in what I envision my classroom to be - students feeling more success in their math !”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ortiz-Luis

In my math classroom, I envision students working in learning stations throughout the classroom. Right now, this is just a dream of mine. Without access to technology, my students are limited to textbooks and paper. Using only the same textbook with 30 students in a class does not enable me to personalize students' learning. In these learning stations, students will be able to access the laptops which I will be able to customize with lessons and activities designed to the students' level. Stations will be based upon the areas they need to practice. Depending on the numbers of laptops that I will be able to have for the class, some stations will be without laptops, but will have teacher created lessons posted in the stations, textbooks, activity packets, or other activities such as explorations on paper. As some students will be working in these stations, others will go to the stations with laptops for a variety of in-class activities - watch videos and take down notes, work on practice skills on a consistent basis, visualization of big concepts. These stations will enable students to work at their pace and level and provide them catch-up activities. Having students work in learning stations with laptops will give slower learners the ability to meet their individual learning objectives towards math proficiency.
