Funded Nov 30, 2022We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations! Your generosity reached at least 45 children who are learning Spanish. The high-quality materials that you helped us purchase encourage my students to speak, read, and write in Spanish with a lot of joy.
You should have seen their happy faces using interactive articles in Scholastic. Our new board games and books became favorites during our center time! Now my kindergarteners and 1st graders are excited to practice Spanish daily.
Thank you for showing your generosity and support in developing the Spanish program in our school.”

Funded Dec 1, 2021We received your kind donations and we use them every day. We cannot thank you enough for the colorful canddies, rolling chart paper stand, rolling cart, and other items! We use them on a daily basis and we enjoy how neat and practical each item is.
Our new organizational items make us happy every day. It's hard to enjoy learning in a clutter-filled environment. Being on top of all that you have to do, and transforming our classroom into an organized learning space, made us feel energized, productive, and proud to have parents, colleagues, and administrators visit...
We are eternally grateful for your generosity, it means so much to have a fun, colorful, and organized classroom! With your help, we are able to maintain a high standard of academics at P.S. 20”

Funded Jan 29, 2021We are super grateful for your generosity. Thanks to your donations, we have quality materials at home. Our blended math and literacy assignments became fun learning experiences for my students and their parents!
My students could not wait to open their little backpacks from Lakeshore. They immediately started identifying days of the week in Español. They also had fun making each other's names using magnetic letters! What a fun way to learn!
The most impactful piece in our bundle was the multicultural treasure chest. My students created dolls representing their favorite African-American hero for Black History Month. They learned a lot about Black History thanks to the fantastic materials YOU provided them with.
As the African proverb says, "It takes a village to raise a child." We thank you for being a generous "village" for our little class!”

Learning Spanish Remotely is Fun!
Funded Nov 30, 2020Your generous donation for our Spanish project has no price. My students can spend hours online singing songs and learning Spanish. They became more willing to share and they describe their projects and artifacts via Zoom.
Digital subscription to Scholastic in Español and Rockalingua became a life changing experience for us. Colorful videos, illustrations, and kinesthetic activities made my students' online experience cheerful and entertaining. Now they are looking forward to logging into Zoom and are willing to share and chat in Spanish.
There were families that were not convinced about the effectiveness of learning Spanish online. However, since we added Rockalingua songs, I can see families singing along and trying to encourage their kids to say colors and shapes in Spanish.
Your gift of Scholastic Magazine and Rockalingua subscription made an unforgettable impact on our remote learning.”

We enjoy reading in our classroom, especially we loved the books Se Venden Gorras and Buenas Noches Gorila. We love to practice our greetings and counting in Spanish. Our bilingual and monolingual students are fully immersed in the stories and ask for more.
We are eternally grateful for your generosity, it means so much to have bilingual books in the classroom! With your help we are able to maintain a high standard of academic engagement at P.S. 054.”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Thanks to your thoughtful gift we were able to pilot literacy games and ebooks with the help of TutorMate platform. The students are able to develop their reading skills playing games on Kindle fire. Tutor Mate also provides a lot of ebooks that our students can read an listen to. Children love to use their Kindle Fires and they don't even realize how much they practice their reading!
Students get exited to work with their partners! They love to read books together and they love to share what they read or listened to. Also, my first graders enjoy playing word games and they often share the strategies they used in order to get a higher score. It is so pleasing to see them play and learn at the same time.
We usually use Kindle Fire tablets at the end of the day and I usually have a couple of students who "reserve" their space form the very morning. I have a student who often comes to me saying : "Ms. Sergeeva, today I will play word games on my mini tablet, please remember to reserve one for me."
Thanks again for your generous donation, with the help of new Kindle Fire tablets and Tutor Mate platform, my first graders achieved outstanding results in reading this year! There is no better satisfaction than that.”
