Keeping a child's attention on their school work can be challenging. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Doing so when a child with autism, ADHD or some other learning disability can be even more challenging. Many of these children have decreased muscle tone or a constant need for movement-based sensory input that contributes to fidgeting, slouching, making it difficult for them to sit still for long periods of time or focus on seated activities, making it tough for them to engage in learning. The Beanbag seats, weighted lap pad and turtle will be such a powerful tool for children that I work with on a daily basis. I have two weighted balls that get passed around and often cause chaos, simply because I don't have enough for my students who are craving the sensory. The single best predictor of reading achievement is a child's knowledge of and the ability to recognize and name the upper-and -lower-case letters of the alphabet. The alphabet is still the strongest predictor of reading success in fourth grade. With the magic of the multi-sensory Magnetic Letters, Alphabet Learning Locks, and Alpha-Bots paired with sensory breaks and tools, my students will be able to work toward automatic, accurate recognition of letters which will allow them to have an easier time learning about letter sounds and word spellings than a child who does not know the letters of the alphabet.
