  • Big Books for Little Readers

    Funded Feb 5, 2011

I would like to thank all of the people who helped with their generous donations to this pre-k project. It is wonderful to know that so many people are willing to help enhance our early literacy program with new puppets and books.

Your contributions are helping children experience the joys of reading. They are having fun acting out stories with the puppets and flannel board pieces.

I have printed lots of pictures of the children reading stories and acting out the stories with the puppets. The children love seeing themselves in the pictures. They are very excited to show the parents all that they have achieved.

Thank you again for your generous contributions. The children and I truly appreciate it.

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Krater

  • Paint Me a Rainbow

    Funded Nov 27, 2010

The children love art .They are having so much fun using all of the new art materials. They are strengthening their small motor skills and are learning new techniques to fully express their creativity.

Through art they learn a lot about themselves and the world around them. It is always wonderful to be able to fully express oneself.

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your generous donations to my project.

Thank you again for your generous donations”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Krater

  • Moving On Up From Pre-K

    Funded May 13, 2010

I want to thank all of you for your generous donations. The children have worked very hard this year. They have learned many different things. They have made many good friends.

The materials that you donated will help the children stayed involved over the summer. They have the opportunity to continue drawing and writing . The donated supplies will help the children to further develop their fine motor skills and their artistic creativity. They will be ready for Kindergarten in September.

Thank you again for your donation to the pre-k children .”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Krater

As a Pre-K teacher who has been a public school teacher for over 25 years, I know and respect the value of community. Our students come from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds, and many are ELL students. My students have always responded well to hands-on experiences, and learn best through kinesthetic activities. Their parents are actively-involved in their academic success, and taking a look back at their growth as readers, writers, and artists would be beneficial to provide closure to a fun-filled year of learning, as well as to set the stage for the school year ahead. Students will both enjoy looking back and reminiscing about their first year of school, as well as relish their accomplishments as they begin to think about moving on to kindergarten. They are eager learners who love to demonstrate all that they have learned, and a Moving-Up ceremony is an ideal forum in which to do that.
