My students are energetic, active, restless teenagers that need to move during the day. However, at no fault of their own, they are time and time again asked to sit still in their regular chairs and focus on their coursework for the traditional six-period school day. I want to provide my students an opportunity to do both: to quench their restlessness and focus on their academics. Instead of my students concentrating on reducing their movements during class, I want them to focus on engaging in the learning process. I firmly believe that the wiggle stools, ball chairs, and bands would allow for this to occur. My classes often range from 30-36 students who are seated in table groups for communicative learning opportunities. The quantities of supplies I have requested would allow for at least 2 flexible seating options per a table group and would create opportunities for a large percentage of students to take advantage of these incredible tools. Additionally, the various options provides students with the opportunity to find the flexible seating that best suits them. As an educator, I get to be up and moving all day long but my students do not have this same opportunity. These tools would help provide students a choice they would otherwise not have.
