In the art room, the students are primarily focusing on visual media- both 2-D or 3-D. Some of the primary projects that the students work on are making their own Field Guides, which the students need to use Chromebooks to research their respective creatures, their creatures habitats, and their creatures biology; Time Lines, which the students need to choose an artist, artwork, movement, idea, or event and use Chromebooks to research their topics, write a paper, and gather ideas for an artwork that is either a reproduction or to help develop their own artwork. The students document their artworks through the use of portfolios. Developing a portfolio that will grow and develop throughout their grade school and high school careers which will provide a useful tool for both compiling and organizing their work and for possible future college and job applications. Graphic design and photography classes continually need to use Chromebooks as they are developing and editing print and web-based media including advertisements, catalogs, and imagery rich digital media.
The need for the reliability of chromebooks where students as well as myself, a teacher, can depend on connectivity, documentation, and resource access is vital to the success of the students.
While we have so many plans for a high tech art room in place, we are lacking the resources needed to implement this plan. In addition, it is essential for students to have access to Chromebooks at home and by having devices in the classroom, students would be able to check out the Chromebook to engage in their artwork at home.
