Funded May 12, 2016Dear Donors:
Thank you so much for your generous donation. When the students saw that we had new supplies, they were very excited. Many students don't have their own supplies to bring to class, so having them available for them to use means a lot. Because of your efforts, students are able to use the resources that you provided to work on their interactive notebooks. Students have the supplies such as glue, tape, colored pencils, and colored paper to make their notebooks come alive. Students are able to make vocabulary flip books, and other foldables that help them organize their information.
As the year continues, we will be building and growing our notebooks, and I know they will be an invaluable resource for the students as they review their lessons and gain new information.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Williams

Funded Aug 16, 2013My students were thrilled when they saw all the new books that we were adding to our library. They were eager to explore the titles and check books out of our classroom library. When I told them that the books were donated by people who care about them and who wanted them to be great readers, I could see the look of surprise and disbelief on their faces.
My students are allowed to check books out of our classroom library for reading workshop and also for their nightly reading. I have my students set goals for the number of books they would like to have read by the end of the year, and they are steadily working toward their goal. Once a week, they write letters to me about the book they are reading and I respond to them asking them questions to help deepen their thinking about their book. I am thrilled when I read student writing that says things like, "I am starting to like reading more now," or "I can't wait to finishing read this book."
This donation had added more rich titles to my library which in turn has given my students more options and possibilities of books to fall in love with. With these added books to my library, I can better differentiate my teaching to each students' level and help students reach their individual goals. The choice that they have in reading self-selected text instead of a common basal reader has encouraged actual reading. I see my students actually reading during our workshop hour instead of pretending to read.
Thanks again for your support. You have helped create many happy readers.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Williams
