  • A Book is a Dream You Hold In Your Hand

    Funded Nov 23, 2019

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your selfless and generous donation! I will be using these books EVERYDAY to help support language development with over 60 students every week. These kids wouldn’t have been exposed to as many literacy opportunities without your support! We are so grateful!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ly

  • Please Consider Supporting the Development of Language Skills

    Funded Mar 16, 2018

Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for your generous donation. Your selfless act promoted an amazing school year for 65 students in elementary school. Though you funded some "toys," my students use these as tools to help support their language development.

Your generous donation funded ink cartridges to print visuals for students who have limited language. Thanks to your help, they were able to communicate and learn using pictures. A big part of your donation also went to laminating sheets that are were used. These laminated pages are now able to withstand repeated use, both with me in therapy, at home to promote seamless communication across environments, and will transition with students next year to their new classrooms.

I have many more pictures that I would be happy to share, though am limited to 6 on this page. If you are interested in seeing more of your generous donation at work, please email me at sly@lowell.k12.ma.us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ly

I work in the most amazing school in the world! From students to staff, administration to families, I consider myself to be extremely lucky. I am a speech and language therapist, and my entire caseload is made up of incredible students who have communication disabilities, autism, health diagnoses, developmental delays, and specific learning disabilities. I support their skills by providing visuals to my students to aid in understanding and using language. I will use the color printer and ink to create visuals specific to each of my students. Unfortunately, my school does not have a color printer, which impacts the success of many of my students language development. I will laminate all visuals to withstand repeated use. Velcro will be used to create interactive visuals to support behavior, social pragmatics, expressive language, receptive language, fluency, and articulation. Stickers will be used for positive reinforcement to encourage my students to continue to put forth their best work. As a speech and language therapist in the schools, I work with over 60 students every week, each student with their own unique goals and objectives to target. Given the range of skills I target with them, I need to stay organized, which is why I've requested several organizational units. It is always my goal to tie in literacy to my sessions. There is a lovely and intriguing picture-less book as well as a captivating book with many visuals that I would like to share with my students to help support their language skills.
