I work in the most amazing school in the world! From students to staff, administration to families, I consider myself to be extremely lucky.
I am a speech and language therapist, and my entire caseload is made up of incredible students who have communication disabilities, autism, health diagnoses, developmental delays, and specific learning disabilities. I support their skills by providing visuals to my students to aid in understanding and using language.
I will use the color printer and ink to create visuals specific to each of my students. Unfortunately, my school does not have a color printer, which impacts the success of many of my students language development. I will laminate all visuals to withstand repeated use. Velcro will be used to create interactive visuals to support behavior, social pragmatics, expressive language, receptive language, fluency, and articulation. Stickers will be used for positive reinforcement to encourage my students to continue to put forth their best work.
As a speech and language therapist in the schools, I work with over 60 students every week, each student with their own unique goals and objectives to target. Given the range of skills I target with them, I need to stay organized, which is why I've requested several organizational units.
It is always my goal to tie in literacy to my sessions. There is a lovely and intriguing picture-less book as well as a captivating book with many visuals that I would like to share with my students to help support their language skills.
