  • Strategy Board Games for Critical Thinkers

    Funded Dec 18, 2024

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity! The students have had a chance to learn and play Mancala, but will be learning the other games, soon. They were so excited to learn a new game, but 3 students were especially in awe that everything was new, in package! Too often students with whom I work use/wear hand-me-downs and not anything new. It was impactful to see their eyes when they saw the plastic still on the games. Who knew that letting students unwrap the plastic would be one of the bigger treats for them?

The next times we play will be chess. I can't wait to see their faces again when they unwrap the brand new boxes. Chess will be challenging for them on many levels, but these games will be perfect, as some students don't yet speak English. These games don't require reading or speaking, allowing all students to be included.

Thank you again for bringing such joy to the students, while teaching them to think critically.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Drozen

  • Student Incentives

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for helping fund another project for my classroom. These students don't realize what efforts are made behind the scenes to make learning as fun and tailored to their individual needs, as possible. Your donations help make that even more so of a true reality.”

  • Math Manipulatives

    Funded May 22, 2023

I am thrilled to have this project funded! I am so excited for the manipulatives for my students to learn in different ways than just being told something or looking in a book. To manipulate shapes is a much more meaningful way for students to engage with the work and to learn.”

  • Reading Can Be Hard

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

Thank you so much for all your help in helping my students in their reading growth. I have reference posters around my room for a variety of topics. Having posters up of blends, digraphs, etc that students can reference help students pair a visual with an auditory way to learn how to read.

The phonics readers are also amazing tools! Having multiple copies allows students to work together on the same words and same stories. We can now work together as a class on books, and not just worksheets that I find on a variety of websites.”

  • Organize Our Reading

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

We have been so fortunate to receive more book donations and grow our library. The most common readers were in bins that could easily tip over. When the students saw the wings on the bottom of the new book bins, they were so excited! Now, when students go to choose a book, the binds are not tipping over, causing books to spill everywhere. This has made choosing books so much easier.

The stool has been used for when we do small group work on the rug. When I wear a dress, it isn't always the easiest for me to sit on the floor. Now with the cushioned stool, I am able to be closer to my students who are sitting on the rug, without getting dirty. For this, I am so grateful.”

  • Hands-On Reading

    Funded Sep 12, 2022

My students have been struggling with reading/decoding. They are really struggling with hearing each sound in a word ("segmenting"). The Elkonin boards with the biggest hit of all! When my students saw the boards, they were so excited. They now had a visual and tactile/kinesthetic way to figure out each sound in the word. The students immediately took to writing the words on the board. I then taught them how to use the slider to stop and pronounce each sound. The medial (middle) sounds are usually the hardest to hear. There has been a drastic improvement in the students identifying that medial sound correctly since these Elkonin boards with sliders have entered our lives.”

  • Colors Capture Attention

    Funded Sep 16, 2022

I cannot thank you enough for your generosity! The loving connection you are helping bring my students means the world to me. My students benefit from visual representations. Having everything in black and white isn’t always enough. You helping bring color to their work will go a very long way.”

  • Reading to Create Rainbows

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

I cannot thank you enough! Some of the exclamations from the students included, "I love volcanoes!", "Wait, can I read that book next?" and "Oooh-that one looks good!". My students don't have access to a school library, so the books in the classrooms are the only ones the school provides. One student kept asking if there were any Dogman books. When I showed he we got 7, he literally jumped out of his seat in excitement! To see that joy of reading and an appreciation of books, let alone have books that can entice students to read, that is all priceless.

Thank you again for helping give the gift of reading (and more than doubling our classroom library!) to these students.”

  • A Good Foundation

    Funded Jan 27, 2022

As many of us know, funding for schools and classrooms is often inadequate. This classroom was given the basics, but we know that students and classrooms require so much more. One thing my students immediately noticed was that drawers and cabinets were labeled! The label maker allowed my students more independence. If they need a supply, they now know which cabinet or drawer to open to get it. The label maker also helped ensure that materials that belong in this room stay in this room. One student saw a pair of our headphones in another classroom and knew it due to it being labeled and was so proud he knew to bring it back to our room.

Helping fill the classroom with more than just the basics and give students more independence are both such gifts.”

  • Healthy Students

    Funded Nov 2, 2021

My students were so excited they could hear me better! The number of hurdles everyone has to face, but now also trying to focus on a teacher while she's talking through a mask adds a whole new layer. The voice amplifier helps my students to focus on my words and removes 1 of the many hurdles they have in front of them.

The wipes and soap are helping keep COVID at bay in the classroom. The students appreciate having some control over their space and being able to wipe it down and wash their hands as they deem appropriate. Being able to give students that sense of control over a pandemic in which we don't is so empowering for them.

The biggest joy from my students came from the browndages. The students love finding which color best matches their skin tone and asking for that browndage. Bringing a little joy to students is always my goal, but even more so during pandemic times.”

    Ms. Drozen

When students came back to in-person learning, they forgot what it's like to sit in a classroom pretty much all day. Now add a new layer of having a mild to moderate disability. That sitting and focusing just became that much more difficult. Alternative seating choices for students help them to get movement throughout their day, yet in a controlled way so they can remain engaged in learning. These chairs will do exactly that! These seats will help students in school to focus. Many students not only have ants in their pants, but they also need the sensory input. Believe it or not, these seats will also provide that input to help some students focus on the lessons.
