  • Scrumptious Snacks for Our Scholars!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

Thank you so much for the resources you have donated to this project - you are SO generous and SO appreciated. When the snacks from this project first arrived at our school, I asked some students to help bring the boxes up to our classrooms. The excitement they felt (and showed) while opening/unpacking the boxes of snacks was amazing to see.

Some of our students are at school as early as 7:00 AM and stay at school as late as 6 or 7 PM. Our babies are hungry, exhausted, and in need of some extra energy throughout the day.

I am so grateful for the snacks you were able to provide for our students. They are SO grateful, as are their teachers/coaches/mentors/other adults they interact with on a daily basis.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Regan

  • Help My Students Reach Their Highest Potential!

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much to everyone that donated to this project. Seeing the looks on my students' faces when they opened all the boxes was PRICELESS.

This project has helped my students in a variety of ways. First and foremost, being able to add prizes to the 8th grade ClassDojo store has been amazing for our kids - earning points for positive behaviors and being rewarded, with everything from Oreos to fidget spinners to basketballs and footballs. I feel blessed I was able to add prizes to the store for our students.

In addition, being able to offer my advisory students both flexible seating options and a variety of snacks has been amazing for my classroom. They're more comfortable, more successful, and able to get through that mid-day slump we all know so well.

Thank you again to everyone that donated - you don't know how much I appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Regan

  • "Ms. Regan, How Can I Do This Without a Calculator?"

    Funded Mar 10, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Technology has become a huge aspect of education in the past few years, especially in Mathematics. In 8th grade Math, students use calculators consistently throughout the year, across all Units of curriculum. For example, my students are currently learning Pythagorean Theorem, which combines square roots and geometry.

Students use technology at varying levels, and calculators are especially important for my students with learning disabilities. When struggling with mathematical concepts, special education students often turn to calculators for an additional support, and it provides them the scaffolding necessary to complete grade-level mathematics so they can feel successful and empowered.

Having a brand new set of working graphing calculators helps my students feel special and deserving of the best resources, which they are. These resources are so useful and practical on a daily basis, and my students are so incredibly grateful for the calculators they have received. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Regan

Math, regardless of differentiation, scaffolding, or provided technology, is a difficult subject for many students to feel successful in. Many students get easily frustrated when they struggle on a task, especially performance tasks or formative assessments in preparation for the State exam. Incorporating technology into our daily math lessons is imperative for success and conducive to students feeling prepared for high school Algebra. Our students feel supported and successful when provided with calculators on a daily basis, so they can check their classwork and avoid making careless mistakes. Due to previous grades' use, many students aren't able to use calculators on a daily basis because we no longer have a full classroom set. Our students deserve the best -- and that includes necessary technological tools to help them succeed inside the classroom, so that they can use their knowledge to succeed outside of the classroom.
