Learning through Native American Legends
Funded Oct 15, 2022Thank you donors for helping me engage my fifth grade students in different legends and stories from our indigenous nations. I used the books to share the stories of different regions throughout North America. We read legends from the Pacific Northwest to the Great Lakes region. The students loved making connections to what we were learning in class to the legends.
In our classroom, I teach primarily science and social studies. I do try to support both of those subjects as much as possible through books. Using picture books is a powerful resources and books can engage any learned from 1 to 99.
Many of the students loved reading the books and have continue to choose to read them. Different students have sat and partner read each of the books. One book in particular that was powerful to share was Stolen Words.
Thank you for providing the gift of books to my classroom.”

Flexible Seating for Fifth Grade
Funded Aug 10, 2022Thank you for supporting our classroom. My students love their newest flexible seating option. The students use the floor seats daily for working on assignments and to do group work. The students also love using the seats to relax while reading quietly around the room. I even will use the new seats to read to the students while sitting on the floor during our favorite time...read aloud.
When our new chairs arrived the students were very excited. They loved the grey color and how cozy they are. The students loved experimenting on how they can tilt the back of the seat at different angles for their comfort.
We truly appreciate your support and helping our learning community be the best it can possibly be!”
