In my classroom, we utilize technology on a daily basis and some young minds cannot stand to sit still and learn! The ability to get out of a seat and stand while completing work, working with a group, or even testing will allow students to focus less on their impulses and more on the learning. There has been a great deal of research around flexible seating and the advantages that it brings to the classroom and students! Choice, physical health and comfort, sensory input, and even fun are among the reasons educators want to allow for the option. I chose the standing desks to allow for students to still be engaged in learning while out of their traditional seats. I chose the bean bag chairs to allow for a less formal, collaborative space. The color that the rug will bring to the alternative seating space will be the icing on the cake! These additions can make for a better learning environment for all of my young people.
