I am asking for 3 Texas Instrument 89 Titanium calculators as each students is expected to be proficient with a graphing calculator in order to be successful on the Advanced Placement Calculus exam. Half of the AP Calculus exam is completed with use of a graphing calculator. Students must be able to practice graphing derivatives and finding critical points to determine where extrema exist. The only way to get good at this is to have one to use everyday as they complete practice problems. As our program continues to grow, we are short on calculators to loan to the students. Success on an AP exams means college credit! Having them available for students to check out for the school year enables more of our financially struggling students to be able to take an AP course without the burden of needing to purchase a calculator.
