Reading high interest novels will enable the students to instantly connect and feel a purpose. "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas novel has won several awards in 2017 and is being made into a movie. With reading this novel, the students will have purpose and hopefully find more books that interest them. I would also like the audio CD of the novel so the students can hear correct reading, dialect and voice. This will make the characters come alive to them. I would like the students to read the novel before it becomes a movie and they know what it is about. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding and enjoyment of reading in a different way than we have been learning in our class. Please consider donating to our high school classroom for a set of novels that are high interest to my students.
